Kalu'ak Fishing Dreby 3/26/10

I entered the Kalu'ak Fishing Derby today on Wranngar. I should have done it on Brieanna, she has a lot better luck fishing.

This time I figured I would save some travel time and fish for the Blacktip Shark in Crystalsong Forest instead of going all the way to Sholazar Basin. I started out close to 10 minutes late, I just happened to hearth to Dalaran and saw the fishing promoter standing there. I fished for a full 50 minutes and didn't catch a Blacktip Shark.

The last time I entered, about a month ago on Brieanna, I got a Blacktip Shark after fishing for about 45 minutes in Sholazar Basin, maybe I should have headed there again. You can catch a Blacktip Shark anywhere you catch Pygmy Suckerfish, and I caught about 30 in Crystalsong Forest today so I know it is possible to catch one there. Even if you are not the first one to hand in a Blacktip Shark, you still get a consolation prize of a Bag of Fishing Treasures. That would have been fine by me but I didn't even get that today.

I will have to set up some kind of an alarm for the future so I don't miss this again, I would like to win this one or at least get the consolation prize again lol.

Daily Fishing - Blood is Thicker 3/26/10

Today when I went to see what Marcia Chase (53,65), by the fountain in Dalaran, had for me I ended up with Blood Is Thicker. I did this one on both Wranngar and Brieanna today.

This had me taking the flight path from Dalaran to Unu'pe in the Borean Tundra. Once there I flew straight inland until I found some Marsh Caribou. This quest requires that you get covered in blood and killing any of the animals the Druids protect will do that. I killed one and got covered in blood then headed back to shore where I jumped in, washing the blood off and creating a blood pool. I fished in the blood pool until I caught 5 Bloodtooth Frenzy, that is what this quest is looking for.

Once I had my 5 Bloodtooth Frenzy I headed back to Dalaran and went to see Marcia. I traded her the Bloodtooth Frenzy for a Bag of Fishing Treasures.

Today Wranngar's Bag of Fishing Treasures had 7g28s71c, 4 Pygmy Oil, 2 Worthless Pieces of Orange Glass and 2 Deviate Fish in it. Hardly worth the trip to Unu'pe.

Brieanna's Bag of Fishing Treasures had 10g24s35c, 4 Pygmy Oil, 5 Solid Gold Coins and 2 Runic Mana Potions in it. She made out a little better than Wrann but not by much.

Cheese for Glowergold - Daily Cooking 3/26/10

Today Katherine Lee (41,65), the Grand Master Cooking Trainer in the kitchen of A Hero's Welcome, had Cheese for Glowergold for the daily cooking quest. Today I did it on Wranngar and Brieanna.

This is a pretty easy one, although I find the Half Full Dalaran Wine Glasses a little hard to target. I got quite a few of them before I even left A Hero's Welcome today. I got the others between Cantrips and Crows Tavern in the Underbelly and One More Glass, the wine and cheese shop. I also picked up the piece of Aged Dalaran Limburger I needed while I was at One More Glass. Once I had all the Half Full Dalaran Wine Glasses and the cheese I combined them on the platter to make a wine and cheese platter.

I took that over to Ranid Glowergold (36,28) at the Leatherworkers in the Magus Commerce Exchange and exchanged it for 9g93s, a Dalaran Cooking Award and a Small Spice Bag.

Today Wranngar's Small Spice Bag had 2 Northern Spices and 4 Baby Spice in it. Nothing to write home about there.

Brieanna's Small Spice Bag had 5 Northern Spices in it. She made out a little better than Wrann did today.

Disarmed

I got the new daily fishing quest when I went to see Marcia Chase (53,65), by the fountain in Dalaran today. This is actually a new version of an old daily, Disarmed is replacing Monsterbelly Appetite.

The story behind this is, a guard at the Dalaran Prison, better know as Violet Hold, had his arm ripped off by an unruly inmate and tossed into the water outside the prison gate. You need to fish up that arm. You want to fish right across from the entrance to the Violet Hold Instance (65,60). There is a little 'dock' there you can fish from. What you are looking to catch is a Bloated Slippery Eel. This is very similar to Monsterbelly Appetite in you have to open the Bloated Slippery Eel to find the Severed Arm inside. Once you have the Severed Arm you take it to Olisarra the Kind, (36,37) the Grand Master First Aid Trainer in the Magus Commerce Exchange, where she is going to attempt to reunite it with the guard. You get the usual reward of a Bag of Fishing Treasures which can have any number of great things inside or, possibly, just junk.

All in all I think this is a great improvement over Monsterbelly Appetite as there is no travel time involved. You get the quest from Marcia, run just about next door to where she is standing, and fish for your Bloated Slippery Eel. It couldn't be easier or faster.

Mustard Dogs - Daily Cooking 3/24/10

Katherine Lee (41,65), the Grand Master Cooking Trainer in the kitchen of A Hero's Welcome had Mustard Dogs! for Brieanna today.

As usual this had me running to all the grassy areas in Dalaran looking for Wild Mustard. I got my first two pieces in the courtyard out behind A Hero's Welcome as usual. I got the other two out and about town. I noticed the mini map now shows you the locations of Wild Mustard like they were a mineral or herb node too, I think that is new in this last patch, I never noticed it before. It didn't take me long to get the 4 Wild Mustard I needed and I was off to the bank to grab 4 pieces of Rhino Meat for the 4 Rhino Dogs. I cooked up the Rhino Dogs and combined them with the Wild Mustard to make a Mustard Dog Basket!.

I took the Mustard Dog Basket and went to see Archmage Pentarus (68,41) at Krasus' Landing where I traded him for 9g93s, 2 Dalaran Cooking Awards and a Small Spice Bag with 3 Northern Spices, 3 Old Spices, 5 Baby Spice and another Dalaran Cooking Award in it, a full bag today.

Daily Fishing - Jewel of the Sewers 3/23/10

Today Marcia Chase (53,65), by the fountain in Dalaran, had Jewel Of The Sewers for Brieanna. This is a nice easy one and the only daily fishing quest you don't have to leave Dalaran to complete.

This had me running down to the Black Market in the sewers below Dalaran. Once there I went to my spot and got down to fishing. My random daily heroic dungeon popped while I was fishing, so I left to do that, but I still think it was under 10 casts by the time I got the piece of Corroded Jewelry I was after.

I took that back up to Marcia and traded her for a Bag of Fishing Treasures. Today my Bag of Fishing Treasures had 10g62s10c, 3 Elixirs of Water Walking and an Unusual Compass in it, about the usual return on this one. There are some great items to get from this daily and I have gotten quite a few of them, but there are still some I haven't gotten yet so I keep plugging away at it in hopes of the good stuff.

Sewer Stew - Daily Cooking 3/23/10

Today when Brieanna went to see Katherine Lee (41,65), the Grand Master Cooking Trainer in the kitchen of A Hero's Welcome, for the daily cooking, she got Sewer Stew. This is a nice easy one and it is the only one you have to leave Dalaran for.

This had me taking the Violet Gate down to Crystalsong Forest to pick the Crystalsong Carrots this recipe calls for. I needed 4 and it didn't take me long at all to get them. Once I had the 4 I needed I took the gate back up to Dalaran and headed over to the bank to grab 4 pieces of Chilled Meat for the rest of the recipe. I built a fire and cooked up my stew then headed down to see Ajay Green at the Cantrips and Crows Tavern in the Underbelly. I exchanged the stew for 9g93s, a Dalaran Cooking Award and a Small Spice Bag with 2 Northern Spices and another Dalaran Cooking Award in it. Not a great haul today, but not too bad.

Breeonna 3/22/10

The past couple days I have been working on getting Breeonna leveled up. That is going really well, I leveled her up 8 levels in 2 days, from 18 to 26.

I have been doing quests, yellow, orange and red ones only, I drop them if they turn green. That ensures me maximum experience gains from each quest I do. I have also been doing dungeons on her. Today I ended up in Wailing Caverns for the random daily. That wasn't too bad, I had done that one before on Wranngar, the only problem was our tank had a Gear Score (GS) of 5... Gear Score is used to determine the quality of a persons gear. 5 is not good. To give you an example Breeonna, at level 26, has a Gear Score of 800. Our tank was wearing gray and white gear, some of it was the stuff you are born with. Needless to say we didn't get that random done. I have also done Deadmines, Shadowfang Keep and Stockades, all of those went well. I did Shadowfang Keep twice yesterday.

I am now going to be questing in Duskwood before moving on to Stranglethorn Vale.

Daily Fishing - Monsterbelly Appetite 3/19/10

Today Marcia Chase (53,65), by the fountain in Dalaran, had Monsterbelly Appetite for Brieanna. It's been a little while since this one has come into the rotation.

This had me flying to Unu'pe, then out to sea, to the icebergs you can see from shore. I guess you could swim out there if you had to. I flew around until I found a school of Deep Sea Monsterbelly to fish from. I got my Bloated Monsterbelly on the first cast and cut it open to get the Severed Arm I was after.

I hearthed back and went to see Olisarra the Kind, (36,37) the Grand Master First Aid Trainer in the Magus Commerce Exchange in Dalaran. This is the only daily fishing quest that does not get handed back in to Marcia. I gave her the Severed Arm and she gave me a Bag of Fishing Treasures for my trouble. Today my Bag of Fishing Treasures had 10g79s17c, 3 Elixirs of Water Walking and a Sealed Vial of Poison in it.

Sealed Vial of Poison starts a quest. The quest is simply to bring the Sealed Vial of Poison to Alchemist Cinesra in the Black Market, located in the sewers below Dalaran. He gives you 13g23s and it only takes about 30 seconds, not a bad deal.

Convention at the Legerdemain - Daily Cooking 3/19/10

Today Katherine Lee (41,65), the Grand Master Cooking Trainer in the kitchen of A Hero's Welcome, had Convention at the Legerdemain for Brieanna.

This had me running over to the bank to grab some Chilled Meat to make the 4 Northern Stew I needed, then it was off to One More Glass for the Jug of Wine. I found the Jug of Wine outside today, quick and easy. I headed across the road to see Arille Azuregaze, the bartender at The Legerdemain where I exchanged the wine and stew for 9g93s, a Dalaran Cooking Award and a Small Spice Bag with 4 Northern Spices in it. An ok haul on this one today.

Daily Fishing - Blood is Thicker 3/18/10

When Brieanna went to see what Marcia Chase (53,65), by the fountain in Dalaran, had for her she ended up with Blood Is Thicker.

This had me taking the flight path from Dalaran to Unu'pe in the Borean Tundra. Once there I flew inland until I found a Marsh Caribou to kill. Killing that gets me covered in blood which is part of this quest. You can kill any animal the Druids protect, I just always kill a Marsh Caribou because it is closest to the flight point in Unu'pe. Once I was covered in blood I flew back over to the shore and jumped in the water. This washes the blood off me and also creates a blood pool which I need to fish for the Bloodtooth Frenzy this quest calls for. The fishing takes no time at all, you fish in the blood pool until you catch 5 Bloodtooth Frenzy. That goes really quick as you catch them 2 or 3 at a time.

I hearthed back to Dalaran when I had the 5 Bloodtooth Frenzy I needed and went to see Marcia. I turned the fish over to her and she gave me a Bag of Fishing Treasures for my efforts. Today my Bag of Fishing Treasures had 10g92s47c, a Glow Worm, 3 Worthless Pieces of Violet Glass, and 2 Deviate Fish in it. I have had better days of fishing.

Infused Mushroom Meatloaf - Daily Cooking 3/18/10

Today Katherine Lee (41,65), the Grand Master Cooking Trainer in the kitchen of A Hero's Welcome, had Infused Mushroom Meatloaf for Brieanna. This is a quick one, really only takes a few minutes.

This had me running down to the sewers below Dalaran in search of Infused Mushrooms, the recipe calls for 4. I got the 4 I needed in no time, there didn't seem to be anyone else doing it at the time. I headed back up to the bank and grabbed the 2 pieces of Chilled Meat to complete the recipe. With all the ingredients in hand, I built a fire right there in the bank and cooked my meatloaf.

I took the meatloaf over to Orton Bennet, upstairs at Curiosities and Moore, which is right across the plaza from the bank, and exchanged it for 9g93s, a Dalaran Cooking Award and a Small Spice Bag with 4 Northern Spices and 3 Old Spices in it. Not a bad return on this one today.

Culling of Stratholme (Heroic Dungeon)

I have been doing a lot of Random Heroic Dungeons on Brieanna lately. I have gotten a couple nice pieces of gear from drops and some more gear with the Emblems of Triumph I get doing the random heroics along with the ones you get for each boss you kill in a heroic dungeon. You get 2 Emblem of Frost and 26g46s for the first random heroic dungeon you do each day, then you get 2 Emblem of Triumph and 13g23s for each one after that. You also get 2 Emblem of Triumph and 19g86s for the first random normal dungeon you do each day but after that you only get a gold reward for doing more random normal dungeons.

I started off picking the normal dungeons I would do from the list then queuing in the dungeon group finder, for that specific dungeon, to find the rest of my group. That find group function selects people that also want to do that dungeon from your realm and other realms. So the majority, if not all, of the groups you are in are with people you have never met before. Usually it is a good experience, sometimes it is not. There are people that quit if they don't like the way things are going. People who will only go as far as a certain boss because they are only interested in what they drop, then just leave group after that. That creates a problem as it leaves you short a person. You have to re-queue in the dungeon group finder to replace them. Sometimes, if you are on last boss, you can just go ahead without them if the rest of the group is good.

Anyway enough about that. One of the random heroic dungeons I did was Culling of Stratholme. I found this one to be very interesting as it brings you to Stratholme when it was in it's prime. The Stratholme I was used to was the one we used to do back before Burning Crusades came out. That place is a mess. In Culling of Stratholme you see how it was and learn why it is like it is now. I was leery of doing this one at first because I thought it was going to be the Strathlome I knew. Once I did it, it turned out to be one of, what I think is, the more interesting dungeons.

Culling of Stratholme is a 5 person, level 80 dungeon centered around helping Prince Arthas Menethil purge the city of Stratholme from the grain infected populace. At the end of the dungeon the players fight and defeat the Dreadlord Mal'Ganis.

There are other mobs you fight along the way, one of which is the Infinite Corruptor (Heroic only). The Infinite Corrputor drops the Reins of the Bronze Drake if you complete the timed part of this dungeon before the time is up. It is a static drop, meaning he drops it every time. I got this drop on my first run through. Everyone else in my group already had it and passed. I was pretty happy to get it, it is my first Drake mount. I have run this a few times now and it never gets old. It is a very simple and easy dungeon to run on heroic.
