2 1/2 Years Playing WoW

I just realized it has been 2 1/2 years, the beginning of this month, since I started playing World of Warcraft. I started playing December 1st 2006 after seeing the South Park episode 'Make Love, Not Warcraft'. I had been hearing a lot about it from people at work before that and decided to check it out, the rest is history.

My very first character was a Human Warrior named Durgan on Aman'Thul. I got him to level 19 before I saw a Warlock on a Felsteed. Once I saw that I decided I had to have one.

Gomorra was born.

Gomorra is my Human level 80 Demon Lock. He got his Felsteed and now he rides a Dreadsteed. I leveled him to 70 as Destruction then respec'd Demonology just to check it out. I ended up really liking Demonology spec both in PvP and PvE play and stuck with it. I used to do a lot of battlegrounds on Gomorra and he has over 24,800 lifetime kills. I stopped PvPing on Gomorra when I started PvPing on my Druid, Wranngar. I want to start raiding on Gomorra and gear him that way.

I will dual spec Gomorra Destruction/Demonology, now that dual speccing is available, as I like Destruction too, I had a lot of fun with that and did a lot of damage.

Wranngar is my level 80 Night Elf Druid. He is spec'd Feral and I won't dual spec him as he is fine just the way he is. I decided I had to have one of these after watching them fight in the battlegrounds. I really love to PvP and Wranngar does a lot of PvP, he has over 58,000 lifetime kills. He is going for the title 'of the Alliance' that you get when you reach 100,000 lifetime kills. I am still in the process of gearing him for PvP since I had to toss all my epic 70 PvP gear when I reached level 80, it is a long process. I want to start doing Arena on him, something I have only done a couple times on Gomorra.

It has been a pretty good 2 1/2 half years, I hope the next 2 1/2 are as good.

Northrend Daily's 6/4/09

I did all my daily's today, I had been skipping them for awhile, got kind of burnt out on them. But I am back to doing them now. Wranngar has the Reins of the Grand Ice Mammoth and I am saving up my gold to get Gomorra the Reins of the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth. The Reins of the Grand Ice Mammoth cost me 8,000 gold for Wrann and the Reins of the Travelers Tundra Mammoth are going to run me 16,000 gold for Gom. The difference between the 2 is the Reins of the Travelers Tundra Mammoth has on board vendors and repair guys while the Reins of the Grand Ice Mammoth does not. They both carry the driver plus 2 passengers.

I did all my daily's for The Sons of Hodir, Blowing Hodir's Horn, Hot and Cold, Polishing the Helm, Spy Hunter and Feeding Arngrim. These only take me about a half hour on each toon and I get about 66 gold on each doing them.

The daily's for Knights of the Ebon Blade also take me about a half hour but pay around 80 gold on each as I do one more for them than I do for The Sons of Hodir. For the knights of the Ebon Blade I do Leave Our Mark, Vile Like Fire!, Shoot 'Em Up, From Their Corpses, Rise!, No Fly Zone and Intelligence Gathering. Once again these take me about half an hour and pay around 80 gold. I usually get around 10-15 extra gold just from drops doing this daily, I loot everything, and I get 15-20 extra gold a day doing The Sons of Hodir daily's.

Wrann also does Overstock in the Storm Peaks. This is a fast and easy daily that gets you around 13 gold (12g96s) for a few minutes of your time. Some people don't like this one because it doesn't give any rep with anyone but 13 gold for a few minutes works for me. I haven't been able to pick this up on Gom yet, there is a pre-quest I guess I haven't done yet, I will look into it.

Daily Cooking and Fishing 6/4/09

Today the daily cooking from Katherine Lee (41,65), the Grand Master Cooking Trainer in the kitchen of A Hero's Welcome, was Infused Mushroom Meatloaf and the daily fishing from Marcia Chase (53,65), by the fountain in Dalaran, was Dangerously Delicious.

I did the cooking first which had me heading down into the sewers below Dalaran to pick Infused Mushrooms. It didn't go too bad today, I got the 4 I needed on each in a few minutes. There were some people doing it but not alot. On a bad day I will just leave and go do something else, a bad day being when everyone is trying to do it at once. On a good day, like today, I am in and out in a few minutes.

I headed over to the bank with my Infused Mushrooms to get some Chilled Meat to cook them up with. Each meatloaf takes 2 Chilled Meat.

Once I had my meatloafs cooked I delivered them to Orton Bennet upstairs at Curiosities and Moore in exchange for 9g93s, a Dalaran Cooking Award and a Small Spice Bag.

Wranngar's Small Spice Bag had 4 Northern Spices and another Dalaran Cooking Award in it. A Pretty good haul for Wrann.

Gomorra's Small Spice Bag only had 3 Northern Spices in it, not a great haul for Gom today.

After that I headed over to Wintergrasp to do the daily fishing. The only place you can catch the 10 Terrorfish you need is to fish in Wintergrasp the PvP zone.

It didn't take me too long to catch the 10 I needed on each. There was no Horde interference today, probably because the battle was actually going on while I was fishing and the Horde were too busy losing. There were only a few other people there fishing at the time, usually there are quite a few there. It is still early though and I write it off to that.

I took my 10 Terrorfish back to Marcia Chase and handed them in in exchange for a Bag of Fishing Treasures.

Wrann's Bag of Fishing Treasures had 10g21s13c, 4 Pygmy Oil, a Tower Key which I sold to a vendor for 16g66s66c and 2 Deviate Fish. Not too bad a haul for Wrann with the tower key and all. It took him 16 casts to catch his 10 Terrorfish.

Gom's Bag of Fishing Treasures had 8g93s70c, 4 Pygmy Oil, an Unusual Compass and 2 Deviate Fish. Not a great haul for Gom on this one either.

Battlegrounds 6/3/09

I did some battlegrounds tonight.

The daily battleground was Strand of the Ancients. We won the first one I was in, it was a killing. We won it in 2 minutes 15 seconds which could be the fastest one I have been in to date. We just ran right through them. We took down all the gates on the way, both sides. I usually only do this one when it is the daily but don't really know why, it is a nice battleground. I queued up for it again but left the queue after 3 minutes and did some Eye of the Storm instead.

In Eye of the Storm we did ok in 2 battles and lost one. Actually we did great in one battle and ok in the other we won.

The first one I was in we came off the rock and a couple people went to MT, a couple people went to DR and the rest of us went to FRR and BET. We took FRR right away as most of the Horde were at BET trying to cap that. They did get it capped but they didn't hold it long. Once we had the 4 cap going on we kept them pinned down on their rock until the end of the battle.

The second battle was pretty bad, you know you're going to lose when you come off the rock and 10 of the 15 people on your team run right to the flag. I call them 'Flagtards'. The flag is to EoS what Galv is to AV, a distraction. You can win with 3 nodes and no flag running, you can win with 4 nodes and no flag running but you can't win with no nodes and running the flag. They were in the middle fighting for a flag that they didn't even have a tower to bring to. Needless to say we lost that one.

The third battle I was in went better than the second but not quite as good as the first. We had a strong start, we got FRR, MT and DR, then everyone went Flagtard. No one was guarding DR and we lost it, there were only 2 of us at FRR and we almost lost it, it seemed everyone was either at the flag or MT. We never did get DR back but because we did have a 3 cap going for quite awhile before losing DR and the determination of the Flagtards we did win that one by about 500 points give or take a little.

I might get back on a little later and do some more battlegrounds.

Northrend Daily's 6/3/09

I did all my Northrend Daily's on both Wranngar and Gomorra tonight.

I did my daily's for The Sons of Hodir first. Wrann stopped off on his way there to pick up and do Overstock. Overstock is a really simple daily that only takes a couple minutes, causes no equipment damage and pays 12g96s. I try to do it every day.

I did the 5 daily's I usually do for them, Blowing Hodir's Horn, Hot and Cold, Polishing the Helm, Spy Hunter and Feeding Arngrim. These really don't take me very long, about a half hour on each toon, and they pay pretty well, 13g23s each.

After that I did my daily's for the Knights of the Ebon Blade. The one's I do for them are Leave Our Mark, Vile Like Fire!, Shoot 'Em Up, From Their Corpses, Rise!, No Fly Zone and Intelligence Gathering. More fast and easy quests, these also take me about a half hour.

Gomorra 6/3/09

Gomorra made himself an Abyssal Bag tonight. It is a 32 slot soul bag for carrying soul shards. That is a pattern I was able to get for being exalted with the Knights of the Ebon Blade. It takes quite a few expensive mats to make one but I made all the cloth myself so it wasn't too bad, just had to wait as all the cloth has a 4 day cooldown.

Here are the mats required to make one:

4 Ebonweave
2 Spellweave
1 Eternium Thread

I am a Shadowtailor so I can make 2 Ebonweave each time but only one Spellweave at a time. I made all my cloth today, 2 Ebonweave, 1 Spellweave and 1 Moonshroud. I have a use for all of them from clothing to bags.

I also got Gom's Tailoring up to 450 today. He now has all his skills maxed, primary and secondary.

Northrend Cooking and Fishing 6/3/09

The daily cooking from Katherine Lee (41,65), the Grand Master Cooking Trainer in the kitchen of A Hero's Welcome was Convention at the Legerdemain today. This is a quick and easy one.

I headed over to One More Glass, the wine and cheese shop down the road from Krasus' Landing. It took me a couple minutes to get my jug of wine on Gomorra but Wranngar got his right away.

All I had to do after that was cook up 4 Northern Stew for each from the Chilled Meat I keep on hand in the guild bank. I turned them in to Arille Azuregaze, the bartender at The Legerdemain in exchange for 9g93s, a Dalaran Cooking Award and a Small Spice Bag.

Gom's Small Spice Bag had 2 Northern Spices in it, he got screwed today but at least it wasn't Cheese for Glowergold.

Wrann's Small Spice Bag had 5 Northern Spices in it, he made out a little better.

The daily fishing I picked up from Marcia Chase (53,65), by the fountain in Dalaran was Blood Is Thicker today. This is another easy one although there is some travel time.

I took the flight path over to Unu'pe in Borean Tundra then flew inland to kill a Marsh Caribou so I could get covered in blood and gore. Once I had that accomplished I flew back to the shore and ran into the water making a Blood Pool where the blood and gore got washed off me.

I fished the Blood Pool for Bloodtooth Frenzy until I had 5. That went pretty quick as I already had 2 in my inventory. It took me one cast to get the other 3 I needed and I was on my way back to Dalaran to hand them in to Marcia for a Bag of Fishing Treasures.

Gom's Bag of Fishing Treasures had 8g51s38c, 2 Elixirs of Water Walking, 2 Crafted Stars and 3 Deviate Fish. Not a great haul but not too bad.

Wrann's Bag of Fishing Treasures had 8g41s7c, 4 Pygmy Oil and a Stuffed Shark Head which I only got 1g75s from a vendor for.

Going to do some battlegrounds next :).

Eye of the Storm 6/1/09

I did a couple Eye of the Storm battles on Wranngar today. The Alliance was doing pretty well in there, we won both of them with ease.

Both the battles went pretty much the same, we took DR, MT and FRR at the start and fought for BET while running the flag. Fighting for BET keeps the Horde at BET and leaves us open to run the flag and we only need a couple people at each node to call incomings.

I was guarding DR for the most part, we didn't have too much trouble, a couple attacks from BET but nothing we couldn't handle.

Northrend Daily Fishing Quest 6/1/09

Today I picked up Jewel Of The Sewers from Marcia Chase (53,65), by the fountain in Dalaran.

This had me heading down into the sewers, also known as the underbelly, to the Black Market. I went to my spot there to try and catch a piece of Corroded Jewelry.

It didn't take me too long today to get my piece of Corroded Jewelry and I was on my way back to Marcia to hand it in for my Bag of Fishing Treasures. I always fish for my piece of Corroded Jewelry in the Black Market and I always get it in less then 10 casts. This only takes a few minutes and there is usually no one else around.

Gomorra's Bag of fishing Treasures had 6g79s83c, a Glow Worm, 2 Deviate Fish and a Porcelain Bell which I sold to a vendor for 100 gold. The Porcelain Bell is one of the items they throw in to keep you interested. Most days you don't get anything to write home about from this daily but once in awhile they throw you something to make it all worthwhile.

Wranngar's Bag of Fishing Treasures had 8g97s11c, 4 Pygmy Oil, 2 Worthless Pieces of Green Glass and 2 Deviate Fish. Wrann didn't make out too well today but he is looking forward to greater rewards in the future.

Sealed Vial of Poison

I got another Sealed Vial of Poison in my Bag of Fishing Treasures today. It was part of the reward I received for turning in Dangerously Delicious.

Sealed Vial of Poison starts a quest. It is a really simple quest and pays 13g23s.

You will need to right click on the Sealed Vial of Poison and accept the quest. Then all you have to do is go down into the Underbelly to the Black Market. The person you want to see in the Black Market is Alchemist Cinesra (63,11). He is located straight ahead at the end of the dock when you come in, you can't miss him. If you accepted the quest, as you should have by this point, he will have a big yellow ? over his head. You hand the Sealed Vial of Poison over to him and he gives you 13g23s, quest complete.

This literally only takes about half a minute to ride from Marcia Chase (53,65), by the fountain in Dalaran to the Black Market and talk to Alchemist Cinesra and collect your 13g23s. This is one of the extras they throw in to make this daily more interesting, like the New Age Painting signed by Marcia Chase which sells to a vendor for 25 gold and the Stormjewels that go for 350-750 gold each on the auction house.

Spy Hunter

Spy Hunter is a daily you can do to build rep with The Sons of Hodir. You need to be honored with The Sons of Hodir to be able to pick up this quest. If you can't do daily's for The Sons of Hodir yet check out Unlocking The Sons of Hodir Daily's for information on how you can start.

You pick this quest up from the Frostworg Denmother at Dun Niffelem. She is located on the very bottom level in the northwest corner.

To complete this quest you must defeat 3 Stormforged Spies in the Valley of Ancient Winters. You are given a Ethereal Worg Fang to use at the Corpse of the Fallen Worg (57,64) in the Valley of Ancient Winters. To do this you just go to the Corpse of the Fallen Worg and right click on the Ethereal Worg Fang. An Ethereal Worg will appear to lead you to a Stormforged Spy.

You need to follow the Ethereal Worg around while it sniffs out a spy. It is a good idea to target your Ethereal Worg then set focus which will put it on your screen down below the party area. The reason for this is there are usually a lot of people around donig this at the same time and the Roaming Jormungar will attack you and your Ethereal Worg and you will end up losing your Worg. The way you set focus is to right click on the Ethereal Worg's portrait, when you have him targeted, and click on 'Set Focus'.

Eventually the Ethereal Worg will find a Stormforged Spy at which time he will stop and howl. This will cause the Stromforged Spy to appear and throw out some kind of threat like 'Time to die'. You kill him and get credit. You have to kill 3 Stormforged Spies to complete the quest.

When you have your 3 kills you turn this back in to the Forstworg Denmother for 13g23s and 350 rep with The Sons of Hodir. This is another easy quest that returns good gold and rep for very little time. You should plan on doing this one at the same time you do Polishing the Helm and Feeding Arngrim as they are all basically in the same area.

Good Luck :)

Eye of the Storm 5/29/09

Eye of the Storm was the daily battleground today. I picked it up in Dalaran on Wranngar. We won the first battle I was in with a 3 cap and some flag running. I stayed for 4 more battles, 3 wins and one loss.

In the first battle I was in we had a 3 cap going with DR, MT & FRR and a 4 cap going on and off with BET. We would get it and lose it, get it and lose it, but that is good, it kept all the Horde at BET fighting for it and we were able to hold the other 3 nodes without any trouble and run the flag.

The 3rd and 4th battles I was in we had a 4 cap. Not a Perfect Storm but a 4 cap none the less. We started with MT, DR and FRR in both battles and eventually got and held BET. We were running the flag in both those as well. The Alliance seemed to be doing pretty good up to that point.

In the 5th battle I was in you could tell nap time was over. We got slaughtered. Half the people didn't even get off the rock and were saying to just let them win. The Horde won on a 4 cap on that one but I fought throughout the entire battle anyway.

It seems like there is a certain time of day when the good PvP players stop playing and the kids and weekend warriors take over. I didn't check to see if EoS is this weekends battleground but I kind of doubt it is because the play in the first 4 battles was good, not the type of fighting you get from weekend warriors.
