Daily Battleground 4/12/08

It turns out that daily battleground was AV today. I know I said I wasn't going into AV again until the battleground weekend was over but I decided to give the daily a shot. I did it on Wranngar. I got lucky and we won the first one I was in. The plan was rush FWRH and it actually worked although it was really close. We ended up killing Drek with one tower still up and the Horde were on Vann with one tower up. We were faster and got Drek down before they could kill Vann. I got 11g99s and 419 honor. I might have said 413 honor in previous posts but it is 419 honor you get from the daily battleground. Being a sucker I decided to go in again. It was the same plan but it didn't even come close to working. Only a few people rushed all the way to FWRH, some stopped at FWGY, some at IBGY and some at Galv. There were 2 people guarding FWGY, classic Alliance mistake, and they were easily overrun when the Horde came to get it back. Then the Horde moved on to wipe everyone in Frostwolf Keep and that was it, game over. Tuesday the battleground weekend will be over and I can get back to AV.

Battlegrounds 4/12/08

I fought in 6 AV's with Wranngar today. 3 wins, 3 losses. I am done with AV until AV battleground weekend is over. There are up to 10 people AFK per battle and the most of the rest have no idea what they are doing, they are just there for the extra honor. 2 of the losses the Alliance turtled in Dun Baldar, and in the other the plan was to rush FWRH which works about 1 out of 10 times from what I see. Someone said the last battle would take hours, that should give you some idea how long it has been since they were in AV. With the reinforcements a battle that lasts 45 minutes is a long one. I think 2 out of 3 of the losses people went for Galv first. Even when everyone is telling them it won't work they are still going ahead and doing it. The really sad part is they will do the same thing in the next battle too. It's like no one cares anymore. The way it was set up before 2.4 it was really hard to win, now we could win every time if everyone worked together and followed one of the proven plans but the alliance has a really hard time working together. Going for Galv first when the Horde are defending IBGY and IBT is suicide because they pour into Galv's room and make sure you wipe. In one battle the plan was to rush FWGY, good plan, but at least 20 people went Galv and got wiped by the Horde then they said "See rushing FWGY doesn't work". Well if those 20 people had followed the plan and rushed FWGY it would have worked. It's called teamwork. Anyway when AV weekend is over and all the weekend warriors are gone I will go back in and hopefully we will be winning again.

Daily's 4/11/08

I made some serious gold on Wranngar and Gomorra today doing the daily's. I did most of them with Axeelina and another friend Heimdahl. I did my usual quests in Outlands, Gaining the Advantage, Blood for Blood and Blast the Gateway plus Ata'mal Armaments in Shadowmoon Valley and a new one called The Multiphase Survey in Nagrand. I also did my Shattered Sun Staging Area quests, Arm the Wards!, Further Conversions, The Battle Must Go On, Taking the Harbor, Making Ready, Know Your Key Lines, The Air Strikes Must Continue and Intercept the Reinforcements. I did most of these quests on both my 70's and made a combined 308g52s. Not bad for a couple hours :). I am going to try to do these quests on both characters every day, lol we'll see how that works out. And I still have about a dozen daily's I can do on each of them if I choose to but I like the battlegrounds and daily's take away from my battleground time :).

Battlegrounds 4/11/08

I did one Eye of the Storm on Wranngar. Axeelina was in that one with me too. We wanted to do something other than AV for a change. We won that one too by capping DR, MT & FRR, holding them and running the flag. After that we did some AV. The Alliance is still doing pretty bad in AV for some reason, about a 33% win rate. Axeelina was in 3 of them with me, 1 win and 2 losses. I did 18 total on Wranngar with 6 wins and 12 losses. There seems to be a "new" winning strategy people are pushing and that is rush FWRH. The reason that doesn't work is they want everyone to rush to FWRH, cap it, then kill Drek. One person said he won 9 games in a row doing this today. I don't believe it. The main problem with doing this is the towers are still up. If you have been following my posts you will know that each tower represents a Warmaster and +25% health for Drek. So by rushing FWRH and then killing Drek you are taking on Drek at 200% health with 4 Warmasters in the room with him. It is possible with all 40 people there I guess but not likely. The second problem with this is without FWGY the Horde are rezzing too close to Frostwolf Keep when they are defending Drek and there is just a constant flow of Horde coming into Forstwolf Keep. No, the strategy that is still working, when people follow the simple plan, is rush FWGY, capping Tower Point and Iceblood Tower on the way, and getting Drek after towers cap, then move in to FWRH after FWGY is secure and getting the towers. Then, with the 4 towers down, you can take on Drek at 100% health and no Warmasters. Not sure why the Alliance stopped doing that when it was working. The other thing that is a problem is not leaving enough people to guard FWGY. The Horde are coming back and reclaiming it about 7 out of 10 times because it is poorly guarded. You would think people would learn from this but they are not. As a matter of fact it seems the Alliance is not learning from any of their mistakes as they keep making the same one's over and over. In all 6 of our wins we rushed FWGY, although we did also capture IBGY a couple of those times, got the towers and Galv on the way, moved up to FWRH, Towers and killed Drek. In about 3/4 of the Horde wins they won on reinforcements. Another big problem is it is AV weekend so we are getting all the weekend warriors and a lot of AFK, roughly 6 or 7 a battle.

Daily Battleground 4/11/08

Today's daily battleground was Arathi Basin. I did it on Wranngar with Axeelina. We won the first one we were in. We started off with the Gold Mine, Stables and Lumber Mill. Then we lost the Gold Mine and captured the Blacksmith. After that we lost the Stables and captured the farm. Then there was a big fight for the Lumber Mill which we won and due to all the horde being at the Lumber Mill we were able to take the Gold Mine again. At that point we had a 4 cap going (4 out of 5) and the resources we adding up quickly, we won in a landslide. The daily battleground pays 11g99s and 413 honor, definetly worth the effort especially when you win your first one :).

Daily's 4/10/08

I did some of my daily's today on Wranngar with Axeelina. She had a new quest for me today in Shadowmoon Valley called Ata'mal Armaments. It pays 18g80s :). It did not take us long at all to do. I also did Gaining the Advantage, Blood for Blood and Blast the Gateway. All together I made 55g39s for those 4 quests. Tomorrow I will get back into doing all my daily quests. To see what daily's I do, and how much I make for each, check out Daily's 4/5/08 and Daily's Part II 4/5/08.

Wranngar AV 4/10/08

I did 10 AV's on Wranngar today, 2 wins and 8 losses :(. The Alliance is still having a hard time in AV. One problem I noticed is not guarding things while they are capping. Frostwolf Graveyard for example, we lost FWGY 4 or 5 times today because everyone will rush to it, fight for it, claim it, then move on and leave one or two people to guard it. Being a strategic graveyard the Horde will ALWAYS come and try to reclaim it. One or two people guarding it might as well be none when 10 to 12 Horde show up to get it back. Then they move on to Frostwolf and wipe out anyone there capping towers and FWRH. Next thing you know we are all back in Bun Baldar. Meanwhile the Horde seem to have adjusted well to the changes and are right back up to speed while the Alliance is still floundering and holding SH. Today we had a lot of people that wanted to do Galv first and of course a couple times they did, that was a guaranteed loss. The best way to do Galv is simply have the teams that capped TP & IBT go and kill him after the towers cap. If you do Galv first you lose a lot of time that could be better spent capturing a tower, capturing a graveyard, capturing FWRH or just about anything else. Someone said they like the honor from Galv. It is 62 honor, if they like that honor they should try winning. Anyway in the 2 games we did win we rushed FWGY, capping the towers on the way, then got Galv while the FWRH and East and West Frostwolf Towers were capping. We then moved on to Drek. I tanked him a couple times today, one of which was actually a win :). But for most of the battles we never even made it to Drek. We were having the same problem of people going off to do their own thing, people defending and turtling at SH and a lot of AFK. It seems like the AFK problem is getting worse despite Blizzard's assurance they are doing something about it. I think what is happening with the AFK is everyone is so sick of reporting the same people day after day in the battlegrounds and still seeing those people in there that they have stopped reporting them. "Why bother nothing gets done anyway" seems to be the attitude. Once again the strategy that seems to still be working is rush FWGY, defend it until it caps, while some people drop off along the way to take the towers and kill Galv after the towers cap. Move on to FWRH and FW Towers, leaving enough people guarding FWGY to hold it, then moving onto Drek after the towers cap. FWGY is one that we want to control when we go after Drek because it keeps any Horde that show up to defend Drek from rezzing too close to Frostwolf Keep. You can also go the IBGY, TP & IBT route, that seems to work too as long as the majority of people are on offense and some people continue on to FWGY, FWRH and the FW Towers. Having IBGY helps to keep more people on offense and not having everyone that dies get stuck in Dun Baldar. Even though we do so poorly at it AV is still my favorite battleground.

Wranngar 4/10/08

Wranngar got his Gladiator's Idol of Resolve today. I decided to go for that one instead of the Gladiator's Idol of Tenacity. Now I will start working towards my Alliance Battle Standard. Here is a shot of a Worg Pup like mine. I will be doing a post soon on how to get a Worg Pup.

Wranngar AV 4/9/08

I did 8 AV's today on Wranngar, we had 6 losses and 2 wins. The Alliance is still doing pretty bad in AV :(. It is hard to believe that we could go from winning 50%+ after the 2.4 patch to losing 70% of the time now but we did. Axeelina was in 7 of them with me, she needed marks to get her trinket, Battlemaster's Determination, which she ended up getting :). I got my other trinket today too, Battlemaster's Cruelty. Once again the Alliance's biggest problem was lack of coordination and teamwork. Rushing FWGY while getting TP & IBT on the way still works and works well, the problem is people are not working together to do that anymore. Now people want to get Galv first or rush right to FWRH (Actually rushing FWRH works more often than getting Galv first). Then what happens is the raid breaks up into small groups. One small group to Galv, one small group to FWGY, one group tries to go for FWRH, while another stops and tries to get IBGY. Of course you always have a few that stop and try to hold Stonehearth GY which is not a bad thing as long as they don't try too hard. In our 2 wins we rushed FWGY as a group capping towers on the way. We moved up to FWRH and got the Frostwolf towers. We only killed Drek in one of the battles, we won the other on reinforcements when our last tower capped. I think the Alliance is mostly made up of younger kids, in one of the battles a warlock summoned an elemental then turned it loose when the gate opened. It went crazy causing half the people to go into combat so they couldn't mount. Needless to say we got off to a bad start on that one. Another big problem I see in AV is people defending SH too long. I have seen people defend SHGY to the point where the Horde moves into Dun Baldar unchallenged. I really can't figure out what it is about SH but it has cost us more battles. I was battleground leader in a couple of the battles but being leader in AV these days is kind of an embarassment. If the people would actually listen to and follow the leaders plan it would be one thing but there are at least 5 or 6 people shouting out 5 or 6 different sets of directions then everyone goes off and does their own thing anyway. Hopefully some day the Alliance will get it together. I was working towards an Alliance Battle Standard but I am going to get Gladiator's Idol of Resolve or Gladiator's Idol of Tenacity first, I haven't decided which yet, but I only need about 3400 honor. Then I will get the battle standard.

Daily Battleground 4/9/08

I did the daily battleground today on Wranngar. The daily today was Arathi Basin. We lost the first battle but won the second. When Axeelina logged on she did some AB's too. We ended up doing 6 more, 2 losses and 4 wins. We had one 5 cap, a 4 cap and the rest we won on capping 3 and defending. Most of the ones we lost were due to lack of teamwork, people were all over the place, a couple trying to cap the farm, a few trying to capture the Blacksmith instead of working together as a group towards one goal. Moving in a large group towards an objective seems to work best and defending what we have is important. I made 11g99s and 413 honor.

Daily's 4/8/08

I pretty much blew off my daily quests today, the only one I did, besides the daily battleground, was Gaining the Advantage. I did it on Wranngar. I spent most my time in AV trying to get my next trinket but, as I mentioned below, I fell short on honor. I will make sure to do all the daily quests tomorrow. To see what daily's I do check out Daily's 4/5/08 and Daily's Part II 4/5/08.

Wranngar AV 4/8/08

I found 4 quests at the entrance to the Alterac Valley instance that I never did on Wranngar. They were: Alterac Valley Graveyards, Capture a Mine, Towers and Bunkers and The Battle of Alterac. I'm not sure why I never did them but I got them done today. I got 11g99s each for the first 3 and 24g60s for the last one. Alliance had another really bad day in AV again. I was in 10 battles today and we only won 2. A few of the battles that we lost were close but for the most part it was a lack of teamwork and coordination on the part of the Alliance. Turtling is a problem as well as the number of people we have AFK every battle. I think we had 3 battles where we got zero honor. The first one we won we did a really good job in and won by a landslide. The second one we won we won by 16 reinforcements. Those were the second and tenth battles. In the last battle the Alliance turtled at SH for a long time then all of a sudden charged out and claimed IBGY. Once we had that we got TP & IBT then Galv. I went and captured Coldtooth Mine for reinforcements. Then it boiled down to reinforcements and we finally won with 16 reinforcements left. Hey, a win is a win :). I was trying to get my last trinket today, Battlemaster's Cruelty, but fell short by less than 700 honor :(. I will definitely get it tomorrow then I will start working on getting an Alliance Battle Standard. I have both the Stormpike Battle Standard and Alliance Battle Standard on Gomorra.

Daily Battleground 4/8/08

The Daily battleground today was Eye of the Storm. I did it on Wranngar with Axeelina. I was in Growless Cave at the entrance to the instance for Alterac Valley when I entered EoS, Axeelina entered us as a group from Shattrath City, then I realized I didn't have the quest. We won that one. When we got out I was in Shattrath so I got the quest and we did it again, another win. In the first battle we held 2 towers for the whole battle and a 3rd tower for about half the battle. Along with that we captured the flag a few times for the win. In the second battle we did pretty much the same thing but with only 2 towers throughout the battle. We captured the flag a lot in that battle for the win. I got 11g99s and 413 honor for the daily.
