Daily Battleground - Eye of the Storm 6/27/09

My daily battleground today was Eye of the Storm, it took me 3 battles on Wranngar before I got a win.

The first battle everyone was more interested in the flag than towers, so we held one tower and ran the flag.... As usual that resulted in a loss, but a few people got achievements for running the flag, good for them....

In the second battle we didn't have as many flagtards but we still had too many. We had one tower the whole time, 2 towers on and off and a lot of flag running. Needless to say we lost that one too. The sad part is it will never end. They should make the flag achievements so you have to be holding 3 towers when you complete them in order to get the achievement, I think that would wake people up. Or at least 2 towers. I have seen the majority of our team at the flag when we didn't even have a tower.

In the third battle we had a much better group. We got 3 towers right off the bat then fought for BET the whole time, keeping the Horde occupied so we could run the flag. We only had one person at DR, one at FRR and there was no one at MT. Not the best strategy but it worked. We won that one by over 1,000 points.

Battlegrounds 10/5/08

Not a great day for the Alliance in the battlegrounds again today. I did get yesterdays daily done along with today's daily though. I fought in 20 total battles on Wranngar. Yesterday's daily was WSG, I tried one and it was so bad I dropped the quest. I picked it up again this morning before daily's rolled over and got it done on my first, and only, WSG battle. When the daily's rolled over I got today's which was AB. It took me 3 battles to get that one done but I got it done. After that I did a bunch of Eye of the Storm battles with a few AV's mixed in. We had 7 wins and 6 losses out of the 13 battles I fought in EoS. Once again it was going well then you could see when the quality of the players change. We went from 3 and 4 caps with running the flag to barely able to hang onto one tower while half the team, or more, was in the middle trying for flag. The flag means nothing when you only have one tower. Instead of hanging around in the middle trying to get the flag the time would be much better spent getting another tower. I think out of the last 8 battles I was in 6 of them were losses. The Alliance is still doing bad in AV with people taking SHGY and causing the battle plus all the AFK. There was also a lot of inexperience in there. People were calling out to kill Drek while we still had 3 towers up. The groups I was in didn't stand a chance of taking Drek down with 2 towers up let alone 3. We had one battle where we rushed Frostwolf and no one bothered with TP or IBT. By the time we got them it was too late. We had 1 win and 2 losses in AV.

Battlegrounds 8/1/08

The daily battleground today was Eye of the Storm again which wasn't bad, we do good in there and it wasn't their holiday weekend. We won the first one I was in, 2000/300, we trashed them. We had MT, DR and BET capped and were keeping them busy at FRR while we ran the flag. It didn't take me long to collect my 11g99s, 419 extra honor and of course get my 3 Eye of the Storm Mark of Honor mailed to me.

I did some AV's after I was done in EoS, I fought in 7 battles, 4 wins and 3 losses. Our first battle was a win, then we had a loss, then 3 more wins and finally 2 losses before I called it quits. I usually don't fight in a battleground on it's holiday weekend but I decided to give it a try to see how the new add-on I installed today, TuringTest AFK Reporter, was working. I hit it at the right time because overall we were doing good for awhile. Yeah there were a lot of AFK, and the add-on was working great, but it didn't really get bad until the place filled up with weekend warriors. In our wins we rushed FWGY and the relief hut in one, even took down Galv at the start in one of them and still won, that should give you an idea of how good the group was at one point. But towards the end it got really bad and the last 2 battles everyone was in Dun Baldar so I decided to call it quits. Those are the weekend warriors, they are not there to fight, they are there to get honor and marks, they are just a little above the AFK as far as I'm concerned. The only difference being if the Horde come into DB while the are "guarding" it they will put up a fight even if it is half hearted. I am really pleased with this new AFK reporter, it reports automatically so I don't have to waste time doing that anymore and I think if everyone was using it, or Blizzard got off their ass and incorporated it into the game, AFK in battlegrounds would be a thing of the past.

Battlegrounds 6/29/08

The daily battleground today was WSG so I skipped it, I hate WSG, I think it is a waste of time for the amount of honor you get from it so I only do it when I need the marks. Instead I fought in 1 AV and 3 Eye of the Storm on Wranngar, all losses :(. The Alliance just didn't have it together today. In the AV I was in they held SHGY right from the start, we also had SFGY so the Horde didn't have a forward GY to rez at which kept them right in front of us, we couldn't advance. I don't know what it is about SHGY and Galv but they have cost us more battles. Basically they held SHGY but left Dun Baldar wide open which seems to be standard procedure when you get a group that doesn't know any better about holding SHGY. Long story short, and it was a long honorless battle, We ended up losing when the Horde killed Vann. We had just got to Drek and people were saying to rush him while we still had 3 towers up... Great plan, rush him while he has 3 Warmasters with him and he's at 175% health. Then I went into EoS where we didn't fare any better. People seemed more interested in the flag than they did in getting nodes to the point where someone grabbed the flag when we didn't even have a node to bring it to... At least that can be written off to it being EoS holiday weekend and all the weekend warriors and AFKers were out in force. Hopefully it will get better next week but school is getting out so I am not sure it will. To check which holiday weekend it is and see whatever else is going on check out the Events Calendar.

Daily Battleground 6/7/08

Today my daily battleground was Eye of the Storm. I did it on Wranngar and it took me two battles to complete it. In the first battle we got beat pretty bad, We were just hitting the 1,000 mark when the Horde hit 2,000. It was a classic example of everyone trying for the flag instead of getting bases to bring it to. The Alliance had two bases for part of the battle but were down to one for most of it. In the second battle we were doing a lot better at the start, we got DR, MT and BET and were ahead by over 500 at the 1,000 mark. Then people started concentrating on the flag too much, which the Horde had 4 healers at, and we lost BET. Then we lost DR and got it back, same with MT. The Horde were running the flag the whole time. By the end we ended up winning 2000/1957 which was way too close for the lead we had in the beginning. Anyway all I needed was the win to complete my daily. I got 11g99s, 419 honor and 3 Eye of the Storm Mark of Honor which got mailed to me, I can't carry any more, as you can only have 100 at a time, and can't take them out of the mail so they will disappear in 24 hours. This weekend is AV's holiday weekend so I am staying away from there.

Battlegrounds 5/23/08

I fought in a lot of battles today on Wranngar. I was in 8 Eye of the Storm, 5 wins and 3 losses. We were doing pretty good for the most part, at least 3 towers capped and running the flag if not 4 towers capped. In our losses we were up against pre-mades and they were pretty good. In those battles we were lucky to hold 2 towers at one time and in a couple of the losses we only held one. I also fought in 16 Alterac Valley battles, 8 wins and 8 losses. We were at 50% which is pretty good for the Alliance. In our wins everyone worked together for the most part, although there were a couple of battles I was surprised we won. For the most part we rushed FWGY although there were a couple wins where we rushed FWRH and pulled that off. In a few of the battles we really dominated, the Horde were rezzing in their cave because they didn't have a graveyard to rez at :). Only one of our losses resulted in us rezzing in our cave. A couple of the losses were pretty close, we were on Drek, in one battle had him down to 8% when the Horde killed Vann, so it was just a matter of who was moving faster. In another one we were at Drek, had 3 towers down but not enough offense to pull it off. One battle the Horde had at least 10 people in with Drek and they also controlled FWGY so they were rezzing and coming back as soon as we killed them, that is why it is so important for us to control FWGY. A lot of the other losses, too many, resulted from people going to Galv at the start of the battle which is almost a guaranteed loss. The same people did the same thing in more than one battle, they didn't learn from their mistakes, it almost seemed like AV weekend. Going for Galv at the start wastes valuable time which would be much better spent getting towers and graveyards and usually results in everyone ending up back at Dun Baldar because we don't have a forward GY to rez at. Needless to say we had a few turtles but so didn't the Horde. Another mistake that was made more than once was holding Stoneheart Graveyard, that keeps the Horde in front of us and keeps us from advancing and getting our objectives. All together I got over 630 kills today so I was happy about that :). As usual AFK was a big problem in all the battles.

Battlegrounds 5/22/08

I fought in 4 Eye of the Storm battles today, we had 2 wins and 2 losses. I was on Wranngar and Axeelina joined me. We did pretty good in our two wins, we 3 capped and ran the flag. It was over pretty quick, the Horde didn't even hit 1,000 points. In the 2 we lost we had poor groups and a lot of AFK, AFK is still a big problem in all the battlegrounds.

Daily Battleground 5/1/08

The daily battlegroung today was Eye of the Storm. I did it on Wranngar. Axeelina was in a couple of them with me. We had 2 wins and 1 loss. We 4 capped one of them and ran the flag in both of our wins. In our loss we were lucky to have one node capped at any given time. This daily pays 11g99s and 419 honor.

Daily Battleground 4/29/08

The daily battleground today was Eye of the Storm. I did it on Wranngar and we won the first battle I was in. The daily battleground pays 11g99s and 419 honor. A little later I did another EoS with Axeelina but we lost that one. Axeelina had already gotten the daily BG done, she was just going after marks.

Daily Battleground 4/27/08

The daily battleground today was Eye of the Storm. We won the first one I was in and I had such a good time I went back for more. We had some really good groups for some of the battles and some pretty bad ones for others. I ended up doing 9 battles on Wranngar, 4 wins and 5 losses. In the battles we won we had at least a 3 cap going and were running the flag. I was trading off capturing the flag with another Druid, when he capped I would be at the base waiting for the flag to respawn, then I would grab it, run it to a node and cap it and he would be waiting for respawn. I capped 4, he capped 5. I got 11g99s and 419 honor for this quest.

Daily Battleground 4/20/08

The daily battleground today was Eye of the Storm, I did it on Wranngar. It was an easy win for us, we 4 capped and ran the flag, it was over in a few minutes. I got 11g99s and 419 honor for this.

Battlegrounds 4/18/08

I did a bunch of battlegrounds today on Wranngar. AV was the daily battleground and I did 5 battles trying to get it done. We had no wins and the Alliance was doing worse than usual. We had a few turtles but actually made it to Drek a couple times. As usual the Alliance was not guarding what they captured so the Horde just came by and took it back. In the 2 battles where we got to Drek we still had at least 2 towers up and not enough people on offense to take down Drek and 2 Warmasters so we lost. I also did 14 Warsong Gulch battles to get Warsong Gulch Mark of Honor I needed to get my Reins of the Black War Elekk for Wranngar which I ended up getting. The Alliance never does well in WSG but I got to run the flag quite a few times and, in one battle, captured the flag all 3 times for the win :). We had 10 losses and 4 wins in WSG. I also did 2 Eye of the Storm battles and we won both.

Daily Battleground 4/17/08

The daily battleground today was Eye of the Storm. I did it on Wranngar. We won the first one I was in. We started off 3 capping, MT, DR and FRR. My group was in charge of going out and getting FRR. The Horde were already there when we got there, as it's on their side, and we had a hell of a fight to take it but we finally got it. The Horde tried unsuccessfully to take it back a few times but we held on. They did manage to take DR and MT from us a couple times but could not hold them long enough to cap them. The Horde had 8 Rouges but a Rouge is nothing against a Druid :). We ended up winning 2000/740. The daily battleground pays 11g99s and 419 honor.

Daily Battleground 4/14/08

Today's daily battleground was Eye of the storm. I did it on both Wranngar and Gomorra. Both times we won the first battle I was in. The daily battleground pays 11g99s and 419 honor. In the battle on Gomorra we captured and held 2 towers, DR & MT, and ran the flag. I helped capture and defend DR. In the battle with Wranngar we started off capturing DR, MT & FRR then captured BET for the 4 cap. I helped capture and defend FRR. We also owned the middle and were running the flag. We won that one 2000/40 :).

Battlegrounds 4/13/08

I did a few different battlegrounds today with Wranngar. I did the 4 AV's to get my daily done and I also did one EoS which was a loss and 6 AB's, 3 wins and 3 losses. In EoS we started out strong, we had DR, MT and FRR plus were running the flag, then everything just fell apart. I think part of the problem was a lot of the original group left, either they were queued for other battlegrounds or left for whatever reason, and things just went down hill. We lost DR & MT and only had FRR at the end. Running the flag stopped and it wasn't long before it was over. All of the AB battles were good, especially the last one. In the last one we held 3 nodes throughout but we had to fight for them. We held ST the whole time and alternated between holding ST, GM, LM and then holding ST, LM, BS and finally at the end ST, GM, LM & the Farm. All in all it was a pretty fun day in the battlegrounds :). I also got my Alliance Battle Standard today too so that made it all worthwhile :)

Battlegrounds 4/11/08

I did one Eye of the Storm on Wranngar. Axeelina was in that one with me too. We wanted to do something other than AV for a change. We won that one too by capping DR, MT & FRR, holding them and running the flag. After that we did some AV. The Alliance is still doing pretty bad in AV for some reason, about a 33% win rate. Axeelina was in 3 of them with me, 1 win and 2 losses. I did 18 total on Wranngar with 6 wins and 12 losses. There seems to be a "new" winning strategy people are pushing and that is rush FWRH. The reason that doesn't work is they want everyone to rush to FWRH, cap it, then kill Drek. One person said he won 9 games in a row doing this today. I don't believe it. The main problem with doing this is the towers are still up. If you have been following my posts you will know that each tower represents a Warmaster and +25% health for Drek. So by rushing FWRH and then killing Drek you are taking on Drek at 200% health with 4 Warmasters in the room with him. It is possible with all 40 people there I guess but not likely. The second problem with this is without FWGY the Horde are rezzing too close to Frostwolf Keep when they are defending Drek and there is just a constant flow of Horde coming into Forstwolf Keep. No, the strategy that is still working, when people follow the simple plan, is rush FWGY, capping Tower Point and Iceblood Tower on the way, and getting Drek after towers cap, then move in to FWRH after FWGY is secure and getting the towers. Then, with the 4 towers down, you can take on Drek at 100% health and no Warmasters. Not sure why the Alliance stopped doing that when it was working. The other thing that is a problem is not leaving enough people to guard FWGY. The Horde are coming back and reclaiming it about 7 out of 10 times because it is poorly guarded. You would think people would learn from this but they are not. As a matter of fact it seems the Alliance is not learning from any of their mistakes as they keep making the same one's over and over. In all 6 of our wins we rushed FWGY, although we did also capture IBGY a couple of those times, got the towers and Galv on the way, moved up to FWRH, Towers and killed Drek. In about 3/4 of the Horde wins they won on reinforcements. Another big problem is it is AV weekend so we are getting all the weekend warriors and a lot of AFK, roughly 6 or 7 a battle.

Daily Battleground 4/8/08

The Daily battleground today was Eye of the Storm. I did it on Wranngar with Axeelina. I was in Growless Cave at the entrance to the instance for Alterac Valley when I entered EoS, Axeelina entered us as a group from Shattrath City, then I realized I didn't have the quest. We won that one. When we got out I was in Shattrath so I got the quest and we did it again, another win. In the first battle we held 2 towers for the whole battle and a 3rd tower for about half the battle. Along with that we captured the flag a few times for the win. In the second battle we did pretty much the same thing but with only 2 towers throughout the battle. We captured the flag a lot in that battle for the win. I got 11g99s and 413 honor for the daily.

Daily Battleground 4/5/08

I did the daily battleground on Wranngar. It was Eye of the Storm. It took 5 battles to win :(. Not sure what the Alliances problem is lately. In the 2nd battle the Horde held 3 towers, but in the other 4 we each held 2 towers through the whole battle for the most part. It boiled down to running the flag. The Horde had control of it more in 3 of the battles but in the last battle we controlled it and won 2000/754. Then I went back in for one more which we lost. The Horde 3 capped and for some reason the Alliance seemed more concerned with getting the flag than they did with getting another tower. I have been in groups like that where everyone goes for the flag, which half the time when they do that, we don't even have a tower to bring it to. I helped cap and defend DR and then later, after we lost that, I helped get MT and defend that. Anyway I got 11g99s for my daily battleground. I am going to do some AV a little bit later.

Wranngar 4/2/08

I logged off Wranngar at the Throne of Kil'Jaeden last night so I was there when I logged back in. While I was there I went ahead and got the 2 daily quests done, made my 20 gold, then headed to Stormwind and the battlegrounds. I like to fight out of Stormwind because I have the reagent vendor, blacksmith, flypoint and Champions Hall right there. I did my daily EoS, it took 2 battles to get a win. In the first battle they 3 capped us (FRR, MT & BET) and held them while running the flag. In the next battle we did the same thing to them with BET, DR & MT. Then I switched over to Alterac Valley. The first battle was a loss, the Horde killed Vann before we were in any position to Kill Drek, they were moving fast. In the next battle the Alliance reverted to their old ways and decided to hold Stonehearth Graveyard. Stonehearth Graveyard is a good place to stall the horde and slow them down but holding and defending it usually ends up in a turtle. Alliance gets so involved in trying to hold that graveyard that nothing else gets done, resulting in a turtle. That's exactly what happened in this battle and we lost on reinforcements. I'm not really sure what happened in the 3rd battle, the Alliance just fell apart, at least it was over fast. We got IBT & Galv so we got a little honor but that was about it. In the last battle I was in we won! The majority of us rushed FWGY while about 10 stopped on the way and capped TP & IBT. They killed Galv after the towers capped. Meanwhile the group that took FWGY moved up and took the East & West FW towers and FWRH. After towers capped we killed Galv. Tomorrow I will have to go do some hunting, getting low on food.

Gomorra 4/2/08

I took Gomorra to The Isle of Quel'Danas and did the dailys. I didn't go to Hellfire Peninsula to do those 2 daily's, maybe later. Then I headed back to Stormwind and grabbed the daily battleground which was Eye of the Storm. Won the first Eye of the Storm I was in. We capped MT, DR and BET and held them. The Horde was holding the flag but with us having 3 towers I'm not sure what they thought they were accomplishing. I turned in the daily battleground quest and went to AV. Fought 3 battles in AV, 1 win and 2 losses. The 2 losses were very close, we were on Drek, the Horde were on Vann and they just killed Vann before we could kill Drek. The game we won was a semi-turtle on our part. We did manage to get enough people out to cap TP, IBT and WFWT along with kill Galv but we were turtling at the end. The Horde were only able to get 2 towers and we eventually won on kill reinforcements. I will be going in a little later on Wranngar.
