Wranngar - Level 83 Feral Druid

I worked on Wranngar for a little while today and got him to level 83. Wranngar is the last of my 80's I need to get to 85.

I was questing in Deepholm when I hit 83 and headed right over to Uldum to start questing there. I am more interested in getting to 85 than I am with rep or achievements at this time, I can always go back later and finish up all the quests to get the achievements later. I will get more XP per quest in Uldum and get to 84 quicker there which will then allow me to start questing in Twilight Highlands which will get me to 85 pretty quick.

After Wranngar is to 85 I will have to start working on getting them all geared. Right now my Hunter, Brieanna, is the best geared with an item level of 344. My Shaman, Breeonna, is the next best geared with an item level of 336 and my Priest, Brieonna, is next with an item level of 330. My Warlock, Gomorra, is coming in last with an item level of 320. It is gonna take awhile to get them all geared and I was more interested in getting them to 85 than getting them geared right away. Once they are all 85 there will be time for that.

Since they changed the armory around none of my character links were working. The ones in this post are updated and I will work on getting all the other links on this blog updated in the next couple days.

Wranngar - Level 81 Feral Druid

I have started working on getting Wranngar, my last level 80, to 85. He has one advantage over the others in Vashj'ir, he can breath underwater and also has swim form which greatly increases his swim speed. I think it is faster than the seahorse mount you get from the quest in Vashj'ir but other people have said no. Until I can find someone to race I won't know, but it seems faster.

He is currently questing in Vashj'ir and will be there for a bit still. I had a bunch of gear that I sent to him from my other toons, drops mostly, and some gear he made so he is not doing too bad on gear. His dps is pretty low but I am writing that off to my not having played him in over a year. I think the last time I played him was to get him to level 80 and then some PvP to get 100000 Honorable Kills. After that I pretty much lost interest in him.

His skinning is around 480 now and his leatherworking is 501. He is making good gold off quests and drops and I am thinking about dual speccing him to Feral/Balance, so I have been keeping the caster gear he gets from quests and drops too.

I am working on him on and off so he won't be 85 tomorrow but he will get there eventually. I did have one bad moment when I hearthed from Vashj'ir and found myself in Dalaran which is a ghost town now. I had to fly back to the shore then take the boat back to Stormwind where I made sure I reset my hearth stone to.

The Road To 85

As posted earlier, both Gomorra and Breeonna are 85 now. Brieanna and Brieonna are both a few bars away from 84 and should be 85 this week.

I have been doing random normal Cataclysm dungeons on Breeonna to get her geared. It sucks that they were all pretty well geared before the expansion came out and I either had to sell or destroy their 245 and 264 gear, but it is garbage now. You get green quest rewards that are better than the 264 gear.

I am working on rep with one of the factions now on Breeonna so I can buy a belt they have. I got their Tabard so all rep I receive in Cata dungeons goes towards their rep. That should take me a couple days at most to become revered so I can get the belt and not much longer after that to be exalted.

I will keep plugging away on Brieanna and Brieonna to get them to 85. I am not sure what I am going to do with Wranngar, I sort of lost interest in him after I stopped PvPing.

Gomorra - Level 85 Demon Lock

I took a couple hours today and got Gomorra to level 85. I was going back and forth on whether I should finish my Hunter Brieanna first or not. I finally decided to just finish him off and get it out of the way.

I got the final half level I needed done in Twilight Highlands, that is the 84 to 85 area. There are a bunch of good quests there and a couple pretty funny ones. One of them was the dwarf's wedding you have to help set up. You help a song writer make a song for the wedding and then walk the blushing bride down the isle. To top if off you get to kill the minister who turns out to be a twilight guy and transforms trying to kill everyone.

I got no sense of completion when I finished Gomorra though, and I think that is because I still have 3 more to go so I am not really done, just a little closer to being done.

Daily Quest Gold

Today when I was doing my daily quests I noticed they weren't paying out what they used to. Where I was getting around 200 gold a day from the The Sons of Hodir and Knights of the Ebon Blade daily's I was doing, including drops, I now get around 100 gold. They payment for the quests dropped from 13g23s each to 7g40s each. And some of them even dropped as low as 3g70s.

This is because of the upcoming expansion. 80 will no longer be the top level so the payment for the level 80 daily's goes down. That is what happened to Burning Crusades when Wrath of the Lich King came out, the level 70 daily's dropped to about half what they were paying. The problem I have with that is Cataclysm isn't here yet! I am trying to make gold so I will be able to afford to operate in Cata and they reduced the payouts for the daily's by half already...

Personally I think they should have waited and incorporated that when they expansion goes live on the servers. 80 is still the cap and will be for another 3 weeks. This had to have happened with the patch Tuesday or the restart today because it was fine before that.

Sons of Hodir & Knights of the Ebon Blade - Daily's 11/16/10

I did my daily's for The Sons of Hodir and the Knights of the Ebon Blade on Gomorra and Brieanna today.

The Sons of Hodir had me heading to Dun Niffelem in the Storm Peaks. For them I do Blowing Hodir's Horn, Hot and Cold, Polishing the Helm, Spy Hunter and Feeding Arngrim. The only one I don't do for them is Thrusting Hodir's Spear which I determined isn't worth the gold it pays. These take me about 25 minutes and make me 66g15s plus whatever I get from drops. I also get Herbs, on Brieanna, and leather on both Brieanna and Gomorra.

From there is was off to Icecrown to see the Knights of the Ebon Blade. I used to fly right into the Shadow Vault but ever since the last patch I don't have the flight point on my map anymore. I can fly there on my flying mount and then fly out of there from the flight point, it is still there, but I can't fly into the flight point there. Now I fly into Deaths Rise using public transportation then fly over to the Shadow Vault on my own mount.

Anyway I picked up Leave Our Mark, Vile Like Fire! and Shoot 'Em Up from the Shadow Vault then flew back over to Deaths Rise and picked up From Their Corpses, Rise!, No Fly Zone and Intelligence Gathering. For awhile there it looked like they fixed Intelligence Gathering but it now seems to be back to the way it was before. By that I mean it takes forever to get the 5 documents you need. Altogether these take me about 45 minutes including getting the documents for Intellegence Gathering. These 6 daily's make me 79g38s plus whatever I get from drops. I also get Herbs, on Brieanna, and leather on both Brieanna and Gomorra.

I stopped by K3 in the Storm Peaks on Brieanna and did Overstock while I was in the area earlier. This one literally takes a couple minutes, no effort, and makes 12g96s.

Random Daily's 11/15/10

I did my daily's on Breeonna, Gomorra and Brieanna today. I am starting to get some gold together now to handle whatever Cata throws at me.

As usual I did the The Sons of Hodir and Knights of the Ebon Blade daily's. The ones I do for the Sons of Hodir are Blowing Hodir's Horn, Hot and Cold, Polishing the Helm, Spy Hunter and Feeding Arngrim. All in all these take me about 25 minutes per character. The ones I do for the Knights of the Ebon Blade are Leave Our Mark, Vile Like Fire!, Shoot 'Em Up, From Their Corpses, Rise!, No Fly Zone and Intelligence Gathering.

Intelligence Gathering seems to be going back to the way it was, it took me forever to find my 5 documents today. It took me forever just to find the first chest today. But I finally did get the 5 I needed and turned it in.

More Daily's 11/12/10

I got on today and did all my daily's on Brieanna and Breeonna. I was going to do them on Gomorra too but ran out of steam.

I did all the The Sons of Hodir and Knights of the Ebon Blade daily's. The ones I do for the Sons of Hodir are Blowing Hodir's Horn, Hot and Cold, Polishing the Helm, Spy Hunter and Feeding Arngrim. The only one I don't do for Sons of Hodir is Thrusting Hodir's Spear. I tried it a few times and could never do it so I just gave up, seems like a lot more hassle than it is worth.

For the Knights of the Ebon Blade I do Leave Our Mark, Vile Like Fire!, Shoot 'Em Up, From Their Corpses, Rise!, No Fly Zone and Intelligence Gathering. I have been doing Intelligence Gathering every day. It seems like the keys and documents are dropping a lot better now. I can usually get that done while doing the other quests without having to hang around to finish it up.

Today when I went to see Marcia Chase (53,65), by the fountain in Dalaran, she had Jewel Of The Sewers for me. The object of this daily is to go into the Underbelly, below Dalaran, and fish up a piece of Corroded Jewelry. I did it on Brieanna, Gomorra and Brieonna today. I am still hoping to get the Jeweled Fishing Pole for Brieonna but no luck yet on that. I didn't get anything worth mentioning from this daily today.

I did the daily cooking too which I got from Katherine Lee (41,65), the Grand Master Cooking Trainer in the kitchen of A Hero's Welcome. Today she gave me Cheese for Glowergold. I used to skip this daily a lot when it came up because it took forever to get the 6 Half Full Dalaran Wine Glasses you need and I find them hard to target. But I decided to do it today on Brieanna and Gomorra. It didn't take me long at all to find the 6 Half Full Dalaran Wine Glasses I needed, then it was off to One More Glass, the Wine and Cheese shop in Dalaran, for the piece of Aged Dalaran Limburger I needed. I found that as soon as I got there on both toons. I combined the wine and cheese on the platter, supplied when I picked up the quest, to make a Wine and Cheese Platter. I delivered that to Ranid Glowergold (36,28) at the Leatherworkers in the Magus Commerce Exchange but didn't get anything worth mentioning from this one either.

I did a few Cata quests too. I got them in Ironforge. They explain a little about what is going to happen when Cata hits and what we can look forward to. They are a quest chain that have you going to Stormwind and the Outlands. All in all I made about 120 gold doing these. I have done them on all my 80's but Gomorra and Wranngar so far.

Daily's 11/11/10

I did all my daily's on Breeonna, Gomorra and Brieanna today.

I did the daily cooking on Brieanna and Gomorra and the The Sons of Hodir and the Knights of the Ebon Blade daily's on all three. That got me some decent gold for the day. I also make out pretty good on drops, I loot everything (Shift + Right Click) and make pretty good gold off drops too.

I didn't get anything exciting from any of the daily's. Even the daily cooking seems to be getting cheap, most the time I only get 2 Northern Spices in my Small Spice Bag. I have been doing the daily fishing most days too, not today, but haven't gotten anything worth mentioning from that either. I am trying to get some gold together for the expansion.

I did the Random Daily Heroic Dungeon today, it was Halls of Stone. We had no problem and I didn't see any good drops. We didn't do all the bosses, it was kind of a quick run.

The Last Few Days

The last few days I have been getting reacquainted with my characters. These new talent trees they came up with removed a lot of spells I used to have on some of them. Now I am getting used to playing with the new modified spec's.

I have been doing daily's for the last few days. I have been doing them on Brieanna, Breeonna, Brieonna and Gomorra. Really all I am doing on Brieonna is the daily fishing, still trying to get her that Jeweled Fishing Pole. She still can't use it, fishing is only 271, but she is getting closer every day.

On Brieanna, Breeonna and Gomorra I have been doing the The Sons of Hodir and Knights of the Ebon Blade daily's. I have also been doing the cooking and fishing on Brieanna and Gomorra. I have gotten nothing worth mentioning from the daily cooking and fishing, just the usual stuff.

I want to get used to playing with the new talents and also make some gold so I am not broke when Cataclysm comes out. They now have a learned flying skill that will increase your flight speed to 310% on fast flying mounts and another learned skill to be able to fly in Azeroth. I am sure that these will not only not be free they will be quite expensive like everything else in this game.

Nov 4th - Picking Up The Pieces

I finally logged back in today, after downloading and installing a huge patch, and checked out the changes from the patch.

There were a lot of changes. Not only did they restore all the talent points they changed the talent trees, removing a lot of things. We also only have 36 talent points now and you must put 31 into a tree before you can split into another tree. The first couple hours were spent restoring my talents on a few characters and then hitting the trainer for additional training that became available.

Hunters seemed to have gotten hit pretty hard, what else is new? I lost a lot of my good stuff but don't seem to have any problem killing things. I didn't have my damage meter loaded so I am not sure what kind of DPS I was doing. One thing we did get was the ability to carry 5 pets with us and have another 20 in the stable. We can still only use one at a time. I think that is going a little overboard myself.

Warlocks had some changes too. I reloaded all the talents for my Lock and then got the training that was available. I can now summon a DoomGuard. That was trainable so I am not sure if it is because I am a Demon Lock or if everyone gets the ability to summon one.

I respec'd my Priest too, but didn't really spend any time on her. I heard that I don't need reagents any more for a lot of my spells on her.

I did my daily's for The Sons of Hodir on Gomorra and Brieanna and did some of the Knights of the Ebon Blade on Gom. I didn't have any flight points North of K3 for some reason, could be tying in with the expansion, not sure. They are still there and I can fly out of them, I just can't fly into them. They don't show up on my map when I talk to the flight master.

Another interesting thing I noticed is Ironforge seems to be falling apart. While I was there, there was a lot of trembling and dust falling from the ceiling.

They also did away with ammo in the game. That was just great as I had about 50,000 Iceblade arrows in stock. I got 30 silver a thousand at the vendor instead of the 5 gold a thousand I paid for them. That also means no more ammo pouch, I guess I should have seen that coming, people that use ammo have been crying about having to take up a bag space with an ammo pouch for awhile. My 28 slot ammo bag was reduced to a 20 slot and it is useless anyway. No more soul shards either. My 32 slot soul bag was reduced to 24 slot and also useless. There is some weird thing going with soul shards or whatever now, not sure what it is, still trying to figure it out.

They have prime glyphs now too. These are 3 more glyphs you can have. Once you buy a glyph, you learn it so you never have to buy it again on that character. That took me a minute to figure out after I learned one but it didn't show up. It was in the list and I needed to install it from there. I am sure there are a whole slew of things I haven't come across yet that I will stumble upon in the next week or two.

Anyway I figure it is going to take me at least a week to get everyone back in shape and figure out how to play them again. I guess it's not any worse than a lot of previous patches and better than some, there were some good things to come out of it.

Cataclysm - December 7th Release Date

Cataclysm is set to be released, according to Blizzard, on December 7th. I was told by GameStop that the release date was November 1st, obviously they lied about that unless the date was moved up. I told them at the time that a release date wasn't even set yet and they assured me that Blizzard had indeed set the date for November 1st, so I pre-ordered my copy based on that...

I haven't been playing WoW lately because I am just so bored with the content they have now. Previously I was leveling new characters to relieve the boredom but even that wasn't enough in the end, although I did end up with 5 level 80's.

Believe it or not I have been playing Diablo II Lord of Destruction lately. I really like the Diablo series and that was all I played before starting WoW back in the vanilla days. I misplaced my Diablo CD but would like to find that and play some straight up Diablo. I liked the first Diablo better than Diablo II and Diablo II LoD even though the whole thing took place in that one church. Diablo II & LoD had better graphics, better animation and there was a lot more to see but regular (the first) Diablo is still my favorite.

The only thing I don't really like about Diablo II and Diablo II LoD is that you complete the game and you are around level 33. Then you have to complete it 2 more times, once on Nightmare and then again on Hell difficulty to get to 99. It is the same content on both, just harder each time. Also you must keep logging into your characters or they disappear if you are playing on battlenet.

Shealin - Level 32 Fire Mage - 6/29/10

I didn't have as much time to work on Shealin tonight so I only got her to level 32. Still, 3 levels tonight wasn't bad.

I did dungeons mostly tonight. Actually I only did one dungeon, Scarlet Monastery Graveyard, over and over. It seems to be the only one I am queuing into now. Hopefully that will pass as soon as I hit level 33. SMGY is short and boring. There are no good drops for me in there, the last boss drops a couple nice items but they are off-hand and shoulders, I have a 2 hand weapon and BoA shoulders so I can't use them.

Hopefully tomorrow, when I hit 33, I will start doing Scarlet Monastery Library, Armory and Cathederal. They are longer and more fun, not to mention a lot more XP.

Shealin - Level 29 Fire Mage - 6/28/10

I worked on Shealin some tonight and got her to level 29, she is coming along nicely. I did a few quests but mostly dungeons.

I did a couple runs through Stormwind Stockade, a couple more through Razorfen Kraul and a couple through Gnomeregan. I get a lot of XP out of the dungeons, that is how I was able to get 6 levels tonight.

I had to leave one of the runs in Razorfen Kraul I was in because I was lagging so bad I couldn't loot or cast. I was having some serious problems with lagg earlier in the day but it straightened out later on. It was so bad that I would try to loot something and it would take up to 2 minutes for the loot window to open. When it finally did everyone disappeared because they were not lagging and I had to go find them. I would try to cast a spell at something and I would just stand there with my hands flaming until it finally said my target was dead without me even casting anything. I got sick of that pretty fast and logged off for awhile. When I got back on it was better.

We had a really bad time in one of the Gnomeregan runs I was on. I lost count of how many times we wiped but it was a lot. We had a so-so tank and a Hunter that kept pulling stuff. At one point he pulled what must have been 20 mobs at one time. We were towards the end and I didn't even think there were that many mobs left alive in there. Needless to say that was another wipe. Then, all of a sudden, the Hunter left. We didn't have any more problems after that. By the time we finished I had two pieces of gear that were red and two that were yellow. I came across a couple graphics glitches in Gnomer and have attached one.

I am in no hurry to level this one up and am having a good time playing it so I think I will keep doing mostly dungeons to get my levels as they are the most fun.

Shealin - Level 23 Fire Mage

I figured it would be quite awhile before I started another toon, I was wrong. I got bored the other day and decided to try a Mage. I made Shealin, equipped her with the 5 pieces of BoA (Bind on Account) gear, I had from Brieonna, and started leveling it.

It is funny that I am excited about hitting 60 DPS after getting almost 5,000 DPS out of my Shaman Breeonna.

I am not putting any kind of time frame on getting this one to 80, I am just going to level it and enjoy it, no pressure. I figure I will still get it to 80 in 10-12 days /played anyway, that seems to be the casual time for me to get a toon to 80 now.

I have been doing a lot of rendom dungeons on her and have been topping the DPS meter in most of them. Of course I have about 1,000+ gearscore over most the people I am doing the dungeons with so I should be topping the meters.

I got a mount yesterday when I hit 20 and that makes a lot of difference, it sure beats running anyway.

I will be leveling this toon after I do my daily heroics and some daily's on my other toons so it will probably take me awhile to get to 80. That's ok, there is no rush.

Daily's and Dungeons 6/24/10

I have been doing my daily's and heroic dungeons on Breeonna, Brieanna and Brieonna. I have been doing the cooking on Brieanna and the fishing on both Brieanna and Brieonna. I am still hoping to get the Jeweled Fishing Pole for Brieonna from the daily fishing quest but haven't had much luck so far.

I have been doing my daily quests for the Knights of the Ebon Blade and The Sons of Hodir on Breeonna to get some gold together for the 300 riding skill on her and Brieonna. That is starting to add up.

I have done the season daily for Ice Frost Lord Ahune the last few days on Breeonna and Brieanna too. That is a really quick dungeon and awards 2 Emblem of Frost for the first run. You get nothing after that except a chance at the cape he drops which I don't need so I try to limit that to one run a day. I did do 3 runs the other day because someone in the group was after a certain one of the 5 capes he drops but when he finally got it I went on to other things.

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

Ice Frost Lord

Today I grouped through dungeon finder to kill a seasonal boss. Ice Frost Lord Ahune is a boss that is only available during the Midsummer Fire Festival. You summon him in the Slave Pens.

You queue for this in the dungeon finder and he is a fast easy boss. When you queue into the slave pens you will see a crystal off to the left guarded by a mob. You will need to kill that mob and click on the crystal to summon Ahune. Once he is summoned he will summon an earth elemental. While you are fighting that a bunch of water elementals appear, I believe the earth elemental summons them but it could be Ahune. The earth elemental is elite and the water elementals are not.

There are a couple phases to this, the first one is fighting the earth elemental, when you defeat that Ahune will despawn and a crystal will take his place, you want to destroy that crystal. Ahune will appear again and summon another earth elemental, you will go back to fighting that and once you kill it you will want to finish destroying the crystal. When he is done a loot crate will appear.

I have read that is you destroy the crystal in the first phase, before Ahune respawns, the crate chest will probably not appear so it is a good idea to wait until after he respawns to finish destroying the crystal.

The main piece of loot you roll for always seems to be a level 232 cape. There is also a Shards of Ahune you will receive the very first time you do this boss. It starts a quest so make sure you click on it and accept the quest before you leave the instance because you hand it in right there inside the instance. You will also receive a Satchel of Chilled Goods the first time you do this each day. In that you will find 2 Emblem of Frost. You can do this as many times as you like per day but you will only receive a Satchel of Chilled Goods the first time on each toon. You can also only do the Shards of Ahune quest once per toon.

Daily's and Random Dungeons

I have been doing my daily's for the Knights of the Ebon Blade and The Sons of Hodir on Breeonna as well as the random daily heroics and random dungeons. I have been doing the random daily heroic and daily fishing quest on Brieanna and Brieonna as well as the daily cooking on Brieanna.

Brieonna got the Bone Fishing Pole from her Bag of Fishing Treasures the other day but can't use it yet because it requires 300 fishing skill and her's is only around 225. I will have to work on that so I can get that extra +30 to fishing skill the pole offers.

I got Brieanna a new chest piece today with the Emblem of Frost she has been collecting forever. I got her the Longstrider's Vest for 95 Emblem of Frost. At 2 a day it takes awhile to collect 95. That is her fist piece of level 264 armor.

I still need some more Emblem of Triumph to get Breeonna her piece of 245 gear. I am only getting her one of the 2 pieces I could get, to replace her 232 pieces, because I don't want to lose the 4 piece set buff I am getting from her 232 set.

Northern Exposure

While I was doing my daily quests on Breeonna, for the Knights of the Ebon Blade in Jotunheim today, I was attacked by a rare elite. You can identify a rare elite because they have a silver dragon around their portrait instead of a golden one.

The one that attacked me was Hildana Deathstealer. Hildana Deathstealer is a level 80 rare elite. I noticed right off it was a rare but I didn't know how rare until after I had killed in and got the achievement Northern Exposure.

She dropped a couple things, Val'kyr Vestments of the Scorcerer and an Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel. I put the Vestments on the auction house for a starting bid of 250 gold and a buyout of 275 gold. The Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel contained 22g74s33c and 20 Frostweave Cloth so that was pretty nice too. I have heard of people spending months trying to find one of these rares to get the achievement but I think this is how it usually happens, you run into it, or get attacked by it, when you least expect it.

Lately...

Lately I have been working on getting Breeonna geared. I have her gearscore up to 4.5K now and still need about 225 more Emblem of Triumph to go as far as I can with Triumph. That would be my 2 Trinkets, new chest and one of the 245 pieces. I am only going to get 1 of the 245 pieces because I don't want to lose the 4 set bonus I am getting on the 232 set I have.

I have also been doing daily's on Breeonna, Brieanna and Brieonna, mostly the cooking, fishing and daily heroic dungeon. I can't do the daily cooking or fishing on Breeonna yet but I have been doing the The Sons of Hodir and Knights of the Ebon Blade daily's on her since I finished the prereque quest line for each.

Our guild doesn't look like it is going to be raiding, at least not the morning slot during the week, which is my night, so I am either going to have to give up on raiding or find another guild. I really don't want to find another guild because I like this one so hopefully something will work out with the raiding. Raiding is the only way I am going to get the better gear I want.
