Feeling Crabby? - Random Daily Cooking Quest 4/19/11

Today the daily cooking quest from Robby Flay (50,71) in Stormwind City was Feeling Crabby?.

This one had me heading to the canals in Stormwind to catch 10 Canal Crabs. I used to think Cheese for Glowergold in Dalaran was hard because the Half Full Dalaran Wine Glasses were so small and hard to target but these are small and moving so it is even worse.

I jumped in the canal on Wranngar and switched to swim form, so I wouldn't have to keep surfacing for air, and started swimming around. The Canal Crabs are just wandering around and you have to click on them like you are looting them. It only takes a few minutes to get the 10 you need if there are not a lot of people doing the daily at the same time. If there are it can take awhile.

Today there was no one else doing it so I got it done in a few minutes. Once I had the 10 Canal Crabs I needed I headed back over to Robby Flay to turn them in. Today he gave me 9g40s and 2 Chef's Awards. I would have also gotten +1 to my cooking skill if my cooking skill wasn't already maxed at 525. I am only doing this now for the Chef's Awards so I can buy the rest of the Cataclysm cooking recipes.

Feeling Crabby?

Feeling Crabby? is one of the new Cata daily cooking quests obtained from Robby Flay (50,71) in Stormwind City. For those without coord's he is located right outside the Stockades.

Description:

Fresh crab legs have always been one of the King's favorite foods. We have had good luck catching fresh crabs in the canals over the past few weeks. Do you think you can lend me a hand and catch a few of them for me? Be sure to catch them alive, they are no good to me dead, the King requires the freshest catch we can muster.

Like all the Cata daily cooking quests this takes place right in, or immediately around, Stormwind. For this one you will be jumping in the canals and collecting 10 Canal Crabs. You will find them running around in the bottom of the canals. You need to remember to surface for breath once in awhile while you're doing this one. The crabs are tiny and move pretty fast so you have to be quick.

Once you have the 10 Canal Crabs, return to Robby Flay and turn them in for your reward. For completing this one you will receive 9g40s, 1 skill point to your cooking skill, 2 Chef's Awards and 250 rep with Stormwind. This is worth it just for the 2 Chef's Awards alone. You will need the Chef's Awards to buy the Cata recipes that cost either 3 or 5 Chef's Awards each.

The King's Cider

One of the new Cataclysm daily cooking quests, available from Robby Flay (50,71) in Stormwind City, is The King's Cider. For those without coord's he is located right outside The Stockades. Like all the cooking quests, this is completed in, or immediately around, Stormwind City.

Description:

I am forever in debt to our King for all that he has done for us. One thing I can do for him is make his favorite drink! Lucky for us, the ingredients we need to make this wonderful drink are located right here in Stormwind City. Apple trees can be found in every district of Stormwind. These trees are too tall to pick the fruit from, but lucky for us the apples have fallen to the ground and are easy to retrieve.

This one has you running around the city picking up apples from beneath apple trees. You need to gather 12. The apples can be found under apple trees along the canals and in the various areas of the city. One place you shouldn't overlook is Cathedral Square, there are a bunch of apple trees there. You will generally get 2 or 3 from beneath each tree. Of course that depends on how long it has been since someone was there picking them up.

Once you have 12, you return to Robby Flay and turn them in. For this daily you will receive 9g40s, 250 reputation with Stormwind, 2 points to your cooking skill and a Chef's Award which you need to buy the Cataclysm recipes. The recipes cost either 3 awards or 5 awards.

That is really all there is to this one and if it takes you more than 5 minutes from start to finish you are doing something wrong.

Happy Cooking

Thunder Falls

Thunder Falls is one of the new daily fishing quests you can get from Catherine Leland (55,69) who is located on a dock in the canals in Stormwind. For those without coords it is the dock between Trade District and Mage District.

Description:

Arnold and I have been fishing in and around Stormwind for years now. That's the kind of time it takes to find a good fishing spot. One of my favorites is called Thunder Falls.

It's just south of Stormwind in Elwynn Forest. Best part about Thunder Falls is the violet perch. I have never seen them anywhere else, only up there in at the falls. It's a bit of hike for m
e and Arnold to get out there these days though, do you think you could head up there and fetch some of those perch for us?

For this one all you need to do is head over to Thunder Falls (25,59) in Elwynn Forest. They are located just a little southwest of the gate to Stormwind. You want to go to the top of the falls to fish. There are some low level mobs there that might take offense to you being there but as they are only level 9 or so they are not a problem. There is a better than 50% catch rate so it only takes 5 or 6 casts to get the 4 Violet Perch you need.

Once you have those you can head back to Catherine Leland and turn them in for 7g40s and a Bag of Shiny Things, which so far has just had useless junk and an average of 1 silver in it. You will also get +1 to fishing skill which makes this quest worth it right there as you need to catch around a dozen fish to get one skill point in fishing when you are over 450 fishing skill.

Good Luck,

-Wrann

Rock Lobster

Rock Lobster is one of the new daily fishing quests obtained from Catherine Leland (55,69) on a dock in the canals in Stormwind. For those without coords it is the dock between Trade District and Mage District.

Description:

If I could choose my last meal, it would definitely be fresh lobster tail. Something about that tasty crustacean is just irresistible! We recently started trapping lobsters here in Stormwind. Would you mind heading out and checking the traps for me?

One more thing, watch out for the sharks. They can be viscous down there.

This is a really fast and simple one. You will be heading to Stormwind Harbor. Once there all you need to do is dive down and collect 6 Rock Lobsters from the traps scattered around on the bottom of the harbor. You can usually use 3 of the traps and just do 2 laps around them to get the 6 Rock Lobsters you need, they respawn fast. When you have the 6, head back to Catherine Leland and turn it in. You will receive 7g40s and a Bag of Shiny Things, which so far has just had useless junk and an average of 1 silver in it. You will also get +1 to fishing skill which makes this quest worth it right there as you need to catch around a dozen fish to get one skill point in fishing when you are over 450 fishing skill.

Good Luck,

-Wrann

Hitting A Walleye

Hitting a Walleye is one of the new daily fishing quests obtained from Catherine Leland (55,69) on a dock in the canals in Stormwind. For those without coords it is the dock between Trade District and Mage District.

Description:

Sometimes, I fish for fun. Other times to relax, but sometimes I want a challenge. That's where the hardened walleye comes into the picture. This prized fish is not caught for us to eat, but for the challenge. You can find the walleye in Stormwind Lake just north of the city. Think you are up to the challenge?

For this one you will be heading to Stormwind Lake. This is not the lake with the island, it is the lake between Dwarven District and Cathedral Square. Once there all you need to do is fish up 8 Hardened Walleye. As you get one pretty much every single cast this does not take long at all. Once you have the 8 you need, return to Catherine Leland and turn in for your reward.

You will receive 7g40s, a Bag of Shiny Things and +1 to Fishing Skill. The +1 to Fishing Skill is what makes it worth doing this daily. At fishing skill 450+ it takes about a dozen fish to get 1 skill point, so it is worth it to do this daily for the point alone. Your Bag of Shiny Things will contain around 1 silver (on average) and a couple useless items. That's really all there is to this one.

Good Luck,

-Wrann

The Shattering - 11/23/10

It took some time to get logged in today between maintenance running over then the problems people had logging in but I finally got in. Of course there were the mandatory disconnects following that but after an hour or so it stabilized and I was able to take a look around.

The first thing I went to see was the Park in Stormwind. That was a total wash, gone. It looked like it got blown off the face of the world. I also noticed that Stormwind got a face lift. The cobblestones in the street were much more defined and had a pattern to them. The outsides of the buildings were crisper and cleaner. The colors were more vibrant. Then I got to the center of town, the Trade District. There were some more changes there too. The fountain outside the bank has water in it now. The auction house moved to a new location, across from the bank. It is now bigger and less crowded.

When I went outside Stormwind to the Valley of Hero's I saw where one of the statues got knocked down (into the water I assume) and now is on a sled to be brought back up. You can see the feet still standing on the pedestal where it once stood. Looking back at Stormwind from the main gates you can see damage to the towers. There is already scaffolding up so I assume they are already fixing it?

I didn't notice any real changes in Ironforge.

From there I headed to Westfall. I got a surprise when I got there. Sentinel Hill is now a fortress. It has walls around most of it and a lot more buildings. They moved the flight point up next to the original tower now. All of the original buildings are still there, they just added a lot more to it. There was really a lot of content in this patch even though the expansion is not out yet. I noticed a lot of homeless people around Westfall and other areas as I explored them, I guess some of the ones in Westfall used to live in the park in Stormwind as they are labeled as Stormwind refugees.

From Sentinel Hill I noticed a vortex of some kind throwing trees and rocks up into the air. I decided to go over and see what that was all about. What I found there was a glowing hole in the ground. It is called the Raging Chasm. I didn't spend too much more there and these were the only 2 things I found.

I headed to Blasted lands from there as I heard there were going to be some changes there too. I found Nethergarde Keep to be pretty much the same as it was although I ran into some mobs by the mine. I headed south east from Nethergarde Keep and eventually ran into Shattershore. This is all new territory in Blasted Lands. I headed west along the shore and found the Red Reaches. There I found the Bloodwatch Shrine. Continuing west I ended up in the Tainted Forest. As soon as you enter the Tainted Forest from the Red Reaches there is a tiny village called Surwich right on the shoreline. There is a dock there that looks like it is set up to receive a boat, another sailing point? Surwich had an Inn and a couple houses and is dark like Duskwood. From there I headed deeper into the Tainted Forest which eventually lead me back to the Blasted lands I knew. I headed back to the flight point and took a flight to Arathi Highlands.

When I got to Arathi Highlands everything seemed to be the same. My real destination was Southshore as I noticed there was no longer a flightpoint there. While heading to Southshore on the road I noticed a new road (31,54), right across from Stormgarde Keep, with a sign that said Hinterlands. I followed that and found they had put in a tunnel from Arathi Highlands to Hinterlands. I think this is a great idea. When I was leveling up my first toon, Gomorra, I looked all through Arathi Highlands to find a way into Hinterlands from there, there is none. I went through the tunnel to Hinterlands and found that there is a road right from the tunnel to Aerie Peak making that a lot easier to get to.

Continuing on my way to Southshore I noticed a lot of Horde (PvP) mobs everywhere. I even got flagged when I stopped to help out a Rogue that was fighting some. When I got to Southshore I found total devastation. The place was taken over by someone (Forsaken?) and was deserted of Alliance life. I went into the Inn and it was deserted. It looked like they had just packed up and left a few minutes before I got there. There were still fires going in all the fire places but there were no people or furniture. It reminded me of the abandoned Inns you find in places like Moonbrook in Westfall and Raven Hill in Duskwood except this place was still clean and not falling apart.

I headed up to Chillwind Point to catch a flight to the Wetlands to see if anything happened there.

When I got to Wetlands I couldn't believe it. Menethil Harbor was flooded, the docks were all warped and busted up and houses on one side of the keep were under water. The whole place had 1-3 feet of water in it. They had sandbagged to keep the water out of a lot of the buildings. I took a quick ride around outside of the keep but didn't notice anything straight off. It was getting late so I decided to call it a night. I will do some more exploring tomorrow and see what I find.

Children's Week - Day 1 - 5/2/10

Today Brieonna and Wranngar each took an Orphan from Stormwind and Shattrath and made the rounds with them, taking them to see all the sights they wanted to see. The Orphan from Stormwind is a boy and his name is Randis, the Orphan from Shattrath is a girl and her name is Dornaa. It appears to be the same Orphan every year but they don't seem to age.

This was the first year for Brieonna but it is the third year for Wranngar. Wranngar now has all the pets from both the Stormwind and Shattrath versions of this World Event. Wranngar earned the Veteran Nanny achievement today for his efforts with the Orphans in Shattrath. This time the pet he choose was Sleepy Willy.

There is a lot of running around taking these Orphans everywhere they want to go so you need to do a little planning before you set out. A little advance planning will ensure you don't end up somewhere with your hearthstone on cool down making you wait.

They took the Orphans from Stormwind to the Haunted Lighthouse in Westfall, then from there to the Dam in Loch Modan. After that they hearthed back to Dalaran and took the portal to Darnassus so they could see the bank there which is carved out of the base of a living tree. From there we flew to Theramore Isle to get Lady Jaina Proudmoore's autograph. Randis had one more request after that and that was for some ice cream. We took the boat to Menethil Harbor, then flew back to Stormwind and got him some Tigule and Foror's Strawberry Ice Cream. After that it is time to head back to the Orphanage where he offers you one of he pets to remember him by.

I got Piglet's Collar on both Brieonna and Wranngar.

The Orphans from Shattrath had a different agenda from the ones in Stormwind which is good, it keeps you from getting bored.

The first place we headed after getting the Orphan, Dornaa, was Aeris Landing to see her brother Jheel who is studying to be a Jewelcrafter. After that happy reunion it was off to the Bone Wastes to see the meeting stone in Auchindoun. Once there she activates the stone opening a portal, that completes that quest. I flew over to Allerian Stronghold and took the flight point to the Dark Portal after that. When she was done looking at the Dark Portal she wanted to go to Exodar and see the Seat of the Naaru, which then sends you to go see the Farseer. This one is pretty cool because she has dreamed about him and while she is there she calls forth 4 elementals at once. After that it is the long haul to her last request, to see the Dragon at the Caverns of Time. You take the boat from Exodar to Auberdeen then fly from there all the way down to Tanaris. That flight takes awhile. Once there you ride over to the Caverns of time and see the Dragon. After that you will need to buy her a toy dragon and you are done, then all you need to do is take her back to the Orphanage in Shattrath.

Back at the Orphanage she offers you one of her pets to remember her by. Wranngar got Sleepy Willy while Brieonna got the Elekk Training Collar.

During the course of the week I will get these done on Brieanna, Gomorra and Breeonna as well.

Children's Week 5/2 - 5/8

Children's Week is upon us again. It is time to grab an Orphan from Stormwind, or Orgrimmar if you're Horde, and Shattrath and show them a good time.

Children's Week in Stormwind and Orgrimmar

One of the things Orphans like to do is go sightseeing. They don't get out much so they really like to take advantage of having you as a sponsor. Some of the places the Stormwind and Orgrimmar Orphans like to go are:

  • The bank in Darnassus (Alliance)
  • The lighthouse in Westfall (Alliance)
  • Jaina Proudmoore in Theramore (Alliance)
  • Mor'shan Rampart (Horde)
  • Lordaeron Throne Room (Horde)
  • Cairne Bloodhoof in Thunder Bluff (Horde)
When you take your Orphan home after seeing all the sights they will offer you one of their most prized possessions, one of their pets to remember them by. Your choices will include:
Or, for those more interested in gold,
  • Curmudgeon's Payoff, A bag of 5 gold. For those who like telling children there's no Great Father Winter...
Children's Week in Shattrath

The Orphans of Shattrath are no different than the Orphans of Stormwind and Orgrimmar in their desire to get out and see the world. The Orphans of Shattrath are the victims of the war with the Burning Legion. I remember from last year these Orphans ask a lot of questions so be prepared. The places your Shattrath Orphan will want to go see include:

  • The Dark Portal
  • The Exodar (Alliance)
  • Silvermoon City (Horde)
  • Caverns of Time
You will also meet some unexpected people along the way.

Once you have taken your Orphan to see everything they want to see and it is time to go back to the Orphanage they will offer you one of their most prized possesions, one of their pets to remember them by. Your choices will include:

Each Orphan you spend some time with will also write you a letter thanking you afterwards.

Children's Week is a good time to take an hour or two and show you have a heart as well as show a less fortunate Orphan a good time, so make sure you get out there and do your part.

Wranngar 12/28/08

I got Wranngar to level 79 today. The quests seem to be really thinning out. All of level 79 is rested. I leveled in Icecrown while questing there. I thought I would be farther along than I am at this point. I went to Stormwind and got my training done, then used my talent point. I got my first aid to 450 so I have been sending the cloth I get to my cloth bank to hang on to for Wrangar and Gomorra when they need it. I am going to take a break for awhile but plan on getting back on and shooting for 80 tonight.

Update: I played Wranngar some more tonight and I have less than 8 bars to level 80. I will hit 80 tomorrow. I found some more quests around Storm Peaks so I should be able to hit it pretty quick in the morning. The quests are still pretty easy, I have been soloing all the ones that are not group quests. I have some group quests I will have to get done but it is not a high priority. If I see someone in chat looking for a group I will join but I think I can get to 80 without them.

Wranngar 12/27/08

I got Wranngar to level 78 today. As a matter of fact I have him half way through 78 and it's all rested. I think I have a good chance of hitting 80 tomorrow. It depends on how much of 79 is rested. I was questing in Icecrown and it was some more pretty easy stuff. I ran out of quests there but, when I was selling stuff at the vendor, I found a couple items in my bag that started quests there so I will go back and do them. I was questing in the Storm Peaks after I ran out of quests in Icecrown. A bunch of easy quests there too. I will probably spend the rest of my time leveling to 80 in Storm Peaks and Icecrown. I went to Stormwind and did my training when I leveled and used my talent point. I am going to really look at my talents when I hit 80 and see if I need to repsec at all. I also got my first aid to 450 so I am done with that. I can start saving the cloth for Wrangar's first aid and Gomorra's tailoring and first aid. I am still wearing all my level 70 PvP gear and not having a problem questing at all.

Wranngar 12/16/08

I got Wranngar to level 75 tonight. It is going pretty quick with all the XP these quests pay, over 20,000 for most, and the fact that I was on rested XP. All of level 76 is rested too so I should be able to get through that pretty quick. If I keep going at the rate I am I will catch up with the rested XP in level 77 for sure. After I hit 75 I went to Stormwind and trained then out to SouthShore and up to Alterac Mountains to finish the Feast of Winter Veil quest I started the other day. There was no one there, I rode up, dismounted, killed the Yeti and was on my way back to Ironforge to hand in. Much better than the other day when there were 50 people there. I will work on Wranngar some more tomorrow and see if I can get him to 76. Then it is only one more level until I can fly in North Rend.

Wranngar 12/14/08

I played Wranngar for a few hours today and got him to level 74. The whole level to 75 is rested so it shouldn't take too long to get there. I did some Feast of Winter Veil quests today on him after I leveled. I went and got my training done then when I went to Stormwind to catch the boat back to North Rend I saw the Christmas Revelers out so I knew it had started. I hung out in Ironforge for awhile in my snowman disguise. After I got them done I went back to Grizzly Hills and did some more questing. Manual: Heavy Frostweave Bandage dropped for me today while I was questing, I was pretty happy about that. It is a BoP drop and I thought it would take forever to get it. Now I can level my first aid to 450. I got 3 bars of XP after I leveled and I hope to be 75 by Tuesday.

12/1/08

I worked on both my characters tonight. I got Wranngar to level 72 and went and got his training done. I also got my skinning maxed out to 450 on Wranngar tonight. I think skinning is one of the best professions as you can skin most of what you kill as you go along. I also took up skinning as one of my professions on Wrangar but hadn't done anything with it. Tonight while I was questing on Wrangar in Hellfire Peninsula I had to kill Ravagers and Hellboars and I was getting aggravated because I was letting all that leather go that I was too low level to skin, level 1. Finally I had enough and decided to level up my skinning before I went any farther. I went back to Stormwind and started killing and skinning. It took me a little while but I leveled my skinning from 1 to 330 so now I can skin what I kill in outlands. I took Herbalism as my second profession but only got that up to around 10, I will have to work on that later. At least now I can skin as I go along and not waste all that gold I could have been making off leather. I will get Wrangar to level 62 tomorrow and maybe higher.

Wrangar 11/19/08

I played Wrangar, my DeathKinght, for about an hour and a half tonight and got him to level 59. I was questing in Hellfire Peninsula and it went pretty good for the most part. I got to 59 there and went to Shattrath to get a Heartstone from the Innkeeper at Aldor Rise so I could set that as home. I went back to Ebon Hold and got training and changed the runes on my sword, thinking the whole time I could take that portal to Stormwind. Funny story, the portal was only there for the quest. I flew back to Stormwind and then went to Darnassus because I was going to do some battlegrounds with him but then decided not too. I haven't been playing it long enough and don't think I am good enough with it to hit the battlegrounds yet. Besides I want to get both Wrangar and Wranngar to level 80. I expected to get on early and get a couple levels yesterday but ended up not getting on at all. Tomorrow I might have another chance to get on early and, hopefully, get a couple more levels.

Monday, November 17, 2008

DeathKnight 11/17/08

I played my DeathKnight some more tonight. I think I am getting hooked on it or maybe it is just because it is so easy to level. I got Wrangar to level 58 tonight and was able to get out of the Vortex. I guess I am no longer Scourge but am fighting Scourge. It is all a little confusing. By the time I was able to leave the Vortex all my gear was upgraded to blues from quest rewards. One quest took me to Stormwind to talk to the King. The portal I took from Ebon Hold (I think that is the name of the place I call home now) landed me right outside Stormwind Gates. When I walked through them one guard threw a rotten apple at me and the other one threw a rotten banana. Then I got spit on a lot as I was walking through Stormwind and people were screaming in terror. From what I understand DeathKnights were once heros of the Alliance the went to the Dark side to fight for the Lich King. Now I am back on the good side fighting against the Lich King. Anyway when I talked to the king he straightened it all out and it's all better now. He gave me a quest to do and sent me off. A DeathKnight is kind of like a Warrior. I tried playing a Warrior once but didn't like it. I also heard the DeathKnights aren't what they are all cracked up to be but I am liking it so far. They seem to do pretty well for their level but now that I am questing out of the Vortex we will see what happens. I will be able to get on earlier tomorrow and hope to get him to 60 or higher. I already have my fast mount so I don't know if I will get anything at 60.

Headless Horseman 10/18/08

Hallows End is upon us. One of the activities of this is the Headless Horseman. He is located in the Graveyard inside Scarlet Monastary. There is a quest I had to do in Goldshire on Wranngar so I could get the quest to go get the head of the Headless Horseman. Once I had that quest done I just hung around in Stormwind, which is a different place now that they applied the patch for Wrath of the Litch King, and watched trade chat until I saw someone looking for a dps for the Headless Horseman. When I had a group I headed up to Scarlet Monastary. No one in the group I was in had done the quest that day and the first time you do it you can do it twice. There were 2 of us that hadn't done it yet so we did it a total of 7 times. He has a chance to drop his mount which is very similiar to the war horse you can get in Kazharan but it didn't drop for our group. All in all it was pretty easy and we had no deaths. When Blizzard put in the new patch they added some new talents to the talent tree which caused them to refund everyones talent points. I was still trying to get my spec right so I was not 100% but that was ok, I spec for the battlegrounds anyway. There are a lot of new additions to the game already present for the next expansion, Wrath of the Litch King one of which is Stormwind Harbor. Now when you take the boat from Darnassus it doesn't take you to Wetlands, it takes you to Stormwind. They also added inscriptions and glyphs but I have not looked into them yet.

Brieanna 9/19-20/08

In the last couple days I have been questing in Southshore, Wetlands and Duskwood with trips back to Stormwind as the quests require. I got Brieanna up to level 32 between logging over to Wranngar to help guildies and getting her cooking up to 225. 225 is as high as I can go until I reach level 35. So now I am waiting on level 35 for first aid, cooking and I am sure I will be waiting on it to level my fishing past 225 too as that is also a quest. I cleaned up all my old quests so now all the quests I have are Yellow, Orange and Red. I will probably work on her some more tomorrow and I want to do the daily fishing on Wranngar, I haven't done that in awhile.

Brieanna 9/18/09

I went around and cleaned up a bunch of old quests that were in danger of turning Green on me. In the process I got Brieanna up to level 31. I did some questing in Wetlands, Duskwood, Stormwind and Southshore. It was in Southshore that I leveled to 31. I saw another mount I liked so I went to Darnassus and got it. I got the Reins of the Striped Frostsaber. Now I have 2 mounts to chose from, this one is already getting out of control :).

Brieanna 9/6/08

I worked on leveling Brieanna a little today, got to level 22. I did a couple quests in Lakeshire to level then went back to Stormwind and got my training. Only 8 more levels to go until mounted. I hope to have some more time tomorrow to get a couple more levels in. It won't be long until I am riding again. I sold a bunch of the leather I had been skinning and got over 20 gold for it so that was a nice surprise.
